Rare plants stronger than Cannabis

I was reading the Snow Leopard by Peter Matthiessen. In it relates a story told to him by a Nepalese shepherd about a phosporescent plant high in the mountains which has magical powers etc . I wonder how many plants there are undiscovered which have similar properties to Cannabis and may be beneficial to man. I know about Ayuhuasca etc but maybe there are even more out there! Maybe in 100 years people will be smoking something else!

Cannabis has the held the top spot since man has existed I don't think one hundred years is going to make a big difference but who knows?
People have discovered more powerful smokable plants but it generally ends badly.

Pot is more user friendly than almost anything else, that is it's appeal.

salvia divinorum is probably easy to get and has a short high, maybe a few minutes. but it's serious stuff, like it's good to have someone around to take the pipe out of your hand so you don't burn a hole through your shirt kinda serious. in those few minutes you could be somewhere, way far else. most people don't want to go that far.

I second on the Salvia.Salvia Divinorum was the most complete 'escape' from a-reality-which-is-known so-to-speak for your intrepid hominid. More than any Entheogenic substance I've tried and I have done the traditional guides-of-passage. Even had a few days of lingering telepathic episodes after one session in which I was gifted dualist-first-person-perspective-of-a-cloud-I-observed.I simultaneously saw a cloud and MYSELF FROM THE CLOUD while driving no less. Talk about expanding our reality! Also trees deserved a lot more immediate respect. I mean think about being a fucking tree! Stoic Harmonic Zen I Can't Imagine. Of course have a sitter as you leave this reality absolutely if dosage is beyond 'threshold level.' AND ITS LEGAL.

Another is of course Mushrooms. There are many Entheogenic guides, animals, familiars, frequencies...etc.

Google entheogens you will find all the websites with encyclopedic knowledge laid out on all the rare psychoactive plants people have traditionally used/tried...SO FAR. Heck who knows what will fall down in spore form with the next/last meteor or decides to travel into a wormhole that just-so-happens to empty into a sacred butterfly cave in Guatemala and is spread up into Canada? Who knows...haha:ying:

Tryptamines have always been giving humans the most elaborate and meaningful visions. Meditation and/or cannabis can take you just as far, if you practice.

I heard/read somewhere that only 1% of all the plants in the Amazon rainforest have been tested for medicinal properties. I believe there are many many more plants that could be beneficial for humans but like cannabis, you cant patent a plant. It's all about greed.

Salvia is different. I've meditated...to be sure. I have also had stronger deeper more visual experiences on cannabis than other entheogens with a reputation to be more psychoactive.
I don't even really recommend Salvia as it really was the ONLY thing I've tried that made me instantly forget what, whom, where or why I even existed. So, its not really to be taken lightly, as one instant of witnessing true infinity is the same as well, forever!!!!! Not too easy for our minds to wrap around, you know that is one bright light. Makes ya squint a bit when you get that close.

There's a great little book called Underworld Of The East (i think) which tells the story of a guy working in Asia around 1900s where he got introduced to opiates and cocaine after becoming ill. After finding these caused him various highs and lows he went to live in the jungle in indonesia and experimented on himself with local roots of plants. He said that he found lots which did things, but ultimately found one that supposedly cured his addiction to the other drugs. He wasn't heard of again, so assume he found something very toxic, but still, interesting.

I mean, it's not something you'd normally do, dig up roots and experiment with them on yourself. I believe there are plenty of drugs which have not been discovered yet, possibly also utilizing the same system as weed. It would take a lot of time and a gas chromatography chamber to do it safely. Or a few brave/desperate volunteers.

There might well be a new drug of choice in 100 years - we know a lot less than we think we do.

someone (with an agricultural degree) told me in college hes was taught there at one time there was a plant that was revered more than cannabis but it eventually went extinct due to our over use of it

next time i talk to him ill ask for more detail

When in need, it seems that plants know how to reach us.

so funny you mention this

back in the 90s a dude named hipyp george had a show on public access . One episode featured a PHd in the university system that had spent years in this capacity who stated that the natural environment "PRODUCES" what we need.

it almost seemed too far out to be reasonable but I didn't dismiss it. Her candor and demeanor were too intact for her to be delusional and her credentials spoke for themselves and I never doubted the power of nature.

That said years later we are learning about root exudate and allelopathy on levels you can't see with the human eye.

Regardless of the pressures created by our advances, it is neat to be living in a time where our understanding of the world is increasing at such a rapid rate.
