Anyone here using R/o water for their soil grows?Mine is on the way and I was wondering,do you all use 1 teaspoon of cal-mag every time you water?2 teaspoons every other time?I know its a strain sensitive question to a degree, just trying to get an idea of how much/often to use calmag with R/o water.

I never did either,my water is so highly calcified my dogs water bowl is covered in it,yet I've finished some beautiful girls with a good environment. One thing I notice though bigtime, say I've got totally green plants 3 weeks into flower and I hit them with straight tapwater, the next couple days I lose a lot of fans and the p[lants yellow terribly.I know its from the calcium.A mix of R/o and tap may actual;ly be the best thing going, you can get mag and cal without calmag and still not lockout your nutes like calcified straight tapwater tends to do

I have had to do RO cuz my well is 680+ PPM of which 550 is Calcium per well test. My first grow with this water was a tough one. Three weeks in and I had mass probs...

My last White Widow grow turned out Awsome. I don't add any CAl-Mag to my mix. I have put 1 Tsp lime per gallon FFOF using GH 3 part. I fed on the lite side of things for sure. Never burnt but less yeild for sure......

Pure goodness, smell, taste and High ++++++++++++++++++++++++

ballastman, I'm using ro/di water. I use GH 3prt nutes and cal mag every 7 days or so. I water with just ro/di in between as needed. So far no problems.

ro user here tap water doesnt keep my plants healthy like ro does.
tap 0,8ec

cal/mag not needed it yet but i tried to buy some just incase but over here i cant find any brand that does it and apparently im the first that has asked for it in years, the nute i use has cal mag ajustments for coco growing so shouldnt get problems when used correctly. if you run into trouble from overferting causing lock out i was told to flush to low ec then run the canna coco buffer through the soil has good levels of cal/ mag among other elements.

OK bartender looks like I had the right idea then,a gallon of R/O/dehumid water gets a teaspoon of cal-mag,thanks people.FYI There's this new stuff I just got a sample called Magical made by Technaflora no less, looks to be about the same stuff as Botanicare ca-mag plus

Yup, thats what im using atm. I have yet to find a difference, I switched over half way through the grow because the local shop quit carring Cal-Mag+.... A couple bucks cheaper... no complaints yet.

Absolutely,I pounded on the idea of liming soil so much on people got sick to death of me lol.I know dolomite contains magnesium and calcium,I dont believe its enough to gets big plants through a grow though.I got my RO45 yesterday,my plumber pal will install it soon. Now between dehumid water and R/o water I should have enough.

howdy ballastman

got a question- doesent the cal mag have a part of it that never leaves the plant or soil??? i read something about on here someplace. i havent tried calmag cause i use epomsalts.

while people say its a good product, i cant say that for the fact it has something in it that you cant get out of the plants, soil or you and builds ups.

now i have seen plants with out it and grown with it and it does work well but at what cost.......im sorry i cant recall what it was but the shortened name had four letters in the name.
one other thing, how many stage ro system is it ? im thinking of getting one for the home.

Well thought out reasoning. With the lack of quality in your tap water a RO unit is a great investment. Lucky i don't have to deal with this. This will be interesting too hear the difference it will make esp with how they reacted as they did with your high calcium water source.

Poor dog bowl! lol.

my tap is over 400, loaded with calcium as well as many other nasties.. it also has an alarming chlorine smell to it so i had no choice but to buy a 6 stage double di RO unit. I add 5ml cal mag/ gallon and my soil plants are already doing better due to the clean water and no more chlorine, believe it or not the smell on my flowering plants changed as well when i started watering with the RO versus the tap, its no longer a metallic kindof stench.

i'm goin with ro or distilled next grow. this is my first grow in this house and it's been a fekkin struggle to say the least. same genetics. same medium. same lights. same everything except a different well. i mean it just doesn't matter what i do with this grow, the plants dont like the water. i've been growing (not just weed) since before most here were born (not bein smug, just showin my age. lol) and i've never seen anything like it. the worst part is i only moved a 1/4 mile away from my last house.
i've been thinkin for a long time now of usin ro water anyways, figgerin that i use pro-mix i might as well use a neutral water also. as matter of fact, hydro may be a good direction to veer towards also. imagine haulin no soil and waterin is done by a pump???
i'm not gittin any younger, i know that. i've dabbled with it before but i think maybe i'll do a double dabble. i'll always have dirty fingernails but sometimes science makes sense. anyone with me on this?

I thought about it a couple years ago,I'm a dirtfarmer though through and through,I love everything about it.A newly watered flowering plant in a 3 gal pot is a heavy monster sometimes, and I've about fucked my eyes all to hell by spending a lot of the last 5 years in a small room with 3K and no sunglasses,I've recently learned my lesson and learned reading glasses come in different strength's.Yipiie for getting old!If everything were automatic I'd spend more time on this goofy site.Could you imagine that?Lets not think about it..Its not a full time 8 hour a day job,but pretty close sometimes.Lots of stuff to go wrong with hydro too if'n you aint there to watch it,might as well soil it if you're gonna be around.

Ive used RO for about six years and I dont suppliment any cal-mag and I dont use any lime in my soil. I use RO because my tap is 440ppm and I had problems w/o RO. If I can read the plant needs it I feed it a boost, otherwise I know my primary fert has plenty of calcium and mag in it. Boosting for the sake of boosting without knowing if it needs it or not isnt going to work well in the long run.
