Hi @dubi, I thought I'd start a thread rather than PM as maybe others have questions?

I was reading the THH thread and read that you have the Outback Haze. I also noticed that someone has listed an Outback Haze cross in their top 5 Ace strains. I can't find them on your site, even in the R&D section. Are you planning on releasing crosses of this anytime soon?

You also said that you had a recent trip to Thailand, and found some choc Thai strains. Can you tell us anything more about your trip and would you care to share any photos?

Hi @Chi13 sorry for my delay in the reply. I’m married to a woman from this part of the world, so I’ve been extensively traveling through Southeast Asia for the past 15 years, spending 1-2 months each year visiting family and exploring the region. This is my favorite part of the world: its cultures, people, landscapes, and ancient cannabis traditions. I’ve visited every country in ASEAN, some multiple times, to discover different regions. Some countries are large or consist of hundreds of islands, so it takes a lot of time to fully explore their territory.

I’ve been collecting landraces during my solo trips in the area, especially over the past 10 years. However, since cannabis is extremely punishable in most SE Asia countries, I’ll only go into detail about my legal experiences in Thailand over the last two years.

As you know, cannabis was legalized in Thailand last year for recreational use, and many stores selling cannabis can now be found, especially in cities and tourist areas. I crossed the border from the Cambodian jungles into Trat province in Thailand and took a boat from the coast to reach the islands. I enjoyed some beach holidays in Koh Chang, Koh Mak, and Koh Kood, also exploring the local cannabis culture.

I checked into a nice hotel in Koh Chang with perfect views from my terrace

and quickly located the island’s few cannabis stores on my phone. It was off-season, so the islands were pleasantly quiet. Most of the cannabis shops were within walking distance, so I decided to head out, grab something to eat, and buy my first legal weed in Southeast Asia.

After a good meal and a beer, I started walking along the main road to visit the shops on my first day. Unfortunately, most shops only sold American-Dutch poly hybrids, with just a few occasionally offering one or two local Thai variants. I had zero interest in the hybrids, so the following days, I rented a motorbike and visited every shop on the island in search of the local strains.

I managed to find 2 Thai types at 7th Heaven, one in compressed in brick and the other were not compressed flowers called Red Thai. Some pics of the Red Thai, sorry didn't take pics of the brick.

It was an amazing experience to enjoy my first legal Thai joint while taking in the stunning views from the terrace . The Red Thai strain was incredibly potent, mind-blowing, and long-lasting, with intense cerebral sativa effects. Though the smoke wasn’t entirely clean and felt a bit dirty, it was still an interesting sample. After carefully inspecting all the buds and discarding unripe seeds, I ended up with around 25 healthy seeds.

The brick weed was decent and had similar psychoactive effects, mix of cerebral and stony effects, but being compressed, it contained a lot of broken leaf, seed and stems, making the smoke harsh and less clean compared to uncompressed flowers. The brick general wasn’t a particularly interesting batch, and only found one viable seed, the Red Thai was more interesting.

Koh Chang is relatively big and quite hilly for my motorbike driving skills. After enjoyed a few nights her and do some island hoping to Ko Wai and Koh Khlum, i went south to the next island: Koh Mak.
This one is much more smaller, flat and with the most beautul from beaches among Trat islands, a pleasure to discover the island by motorbike.

Since it was the rainy season, most resorts and hotels were closed, and I had all the beaches to myself. I only found one cannabis shop open on the entire island, but unfortunately, the local rastas were only selling Farang (Western) weed. Disappointing.

I booked a hut at a small hotel right on the beach for less than 30 € per night. It was just me and another guest, a young German man who had arrived on the island and decided to stay for a few months. I can’t blame him, Koh Mak is a peaceful tropical paradise, the kind of place one could easily choose to retire.

The German guy had some lanky Thai flowers that he was happy to sell me. They weren’t very potent but had an amazingly clear and uplifting high, with a lovely, ceilingless effect. He didn’t have much to spare, so I only got a small amount and found six viable seeds in the batch.

After spending three nights on Koh Mak and falling in love with the place, I moved on to Koh Kood. Similar to Koh Chang, it’s quite hilly and has beautiful waterfalls, but with far fewer tourists.

There were a few cannabis shops on the island, so I drove around to explore and search for Thai weed and seeds. After visiting all the shops, I only managed to find one batch of Thai weed—most were exclusively selling Farang genetics.

The flowers were decent, with uncompressed, heavily foxtailed tops. However, the high wasn’t particularly memorable, and I didn’t find any seeds in the batch.

The rest of the days were rainy, so I enjoyed my final days in Thailand peacefully smoking all the sativas I had collected during the trip, watching the hours pass from the hotel beach, and reflecting on everything as my vacation came to an end.
