Questions about Fish Fert and my HPS for veg?

I've been recently been building a veg box (2'w X 2'l X 3'h) and found CFL's are the way to go. I've been starting my last few grows with CFL's and also got a MH conversion bulb for my HPS ballast. I got a great idea off OG on how to setup a good CFL lighting setup with no wiring that anyone can do.

Just get some of these from the hardware store:

Then plug them in like this:

I got those pics from a fellow OG'er.

Thats how I plan to do my lighting for my veg box. Just an easy Idea I thought I'd spread around.

Good Luck Eh!

Good advice from everyone. I learned a bit too. When I bought this soil, I didn't realize osmocote was such a 'hot' fert as it is. I also didn't realize it was chemical, that pisses me off. Hopefully this will be the only chemical I use throughout this grow. When I transplant these plants into their new 1 gallon homes, Should I re-mix the potting soil? IE. Use a different base, other than the Scotts w/ Osmocote. I'm going to have to buy more anyway, and I have plenty of perlite, blood meal, and dolomite lime. Hell, the lime I bought for like 4 dollars will probably last a lifetime.

I figure, Next week i'm going to transplant at least the two big ones, if not all of them, into 1 gallon pots. They won't fit on the table anymore so I'm going to have to fix up my lighting arrangement. I'll keep them under the flouros for however long It takes for the younger plants to catch up. By this time I imagine they will be plenty larger than they are now, and my little 160 watts of flouros are going to start to really not be enough. --- At this point should I finish up veg for a week or two under the HPS?

yes astro, i would recommend u veg them a few weeks under the HPS before u switch to flowering. If your having a problem with them getting to tall before u flower them, do some LSTing or top them. you should pry wait to switch to 12/12 until the nodes are alternating. -Opt

Good point about waiting till alternating nodes. Is there a roundabout when this usually starts to happen? And about LSTing. When is the best time to start this? Should I wait until closer to flowering or start to bondage my big ladies now? Or, at least I should wait until I transplant to the 1 gallon pots, right? Why LST if i'm gonna transplant in 1 week. :p

Just an update, too. All my plants are looking real healthy. I think i've figured out which are NL and which are Sativa. The NL ( I believe ) are all sprouting their first node with 3 round leaves. Round, at least, compared to the others, which are thin and producing only the singular leaves on their first node. Can't be just a fluke, 4 out of 7. lol. It's a nice genetic trait. And hey, as far as Nirvana goes, 9/10 germination and all my plants are growing very similarly and healthy. :D

Alternating nodes vary depending on the strain... approx from seed is around a month and a half to 2 months. Yes, i would transplant into ur 1 gallon containers..and start LSTing them a week or so later....ur like right on schedule with my grow op and i just transplanted mine couple dayz ago...most are staying nice and bushy but i will pry start training them in another week im guessing. u should start to have some more nodes forming down by where the first and 2nd sets of leaves were, if not soon u will..once those get a decent size u can bend ur main stem down...and also lower ur light a tad. For the sativas it will pry be a must u do some sort of LSTing since they explode in flowering. -Opt

Thanks Opt. Good advice.

PS. There is the growth you were talking about shooting out of every nody now, but none longer than an inch-inch1/2 long. Still the leaves are getting bigger and everything. I think LST is going to be fun.
