Yes, Prop 19 is irrelevant but if you want to grow 24 plants and you and you buddy have recs then no one is going to fuck with you.

And by no one i mean cops. In LA you need to still follow rule # 1 cuz not everyone i the city of angels is so angelic.

I believe that was the question, not growing for profit per say

first off, move to oregon, washington or california if u want to be west and smoke somewhat free.

move to norcal to smoke cheaper and grow. Be respectful of all in your new area. Folllow the lead of locals and such regarding local leo and their stand on things, dont just go by what the net says. Be low profile...

i went to a grow store that is very very busy here in what some would call weed capital usa..anyway these guys roll up in a lifter truck with IDAHO plates and a big trailer, they all hop out and look like jugaloos were everywhere...it was an icp convention and they looked all nervour or somehting....see that shit stands out, be the low flyer and youll reach your goal.....good luck.

i'm not looking to profit off of marijuana. I may have said that having a surplus, and making some extra dollars to cover costs wouldn't be the worst thing in the world, but I never said I wanted growing pot to be my job. Some people on this thread are getting their skirts ruffled because I am content with a 5'x5' grow?

JOJO420 - you have been a complete ass. This entire thread you have been bashing me, telling me not to come to California because I won't make money, i'll be broke in the music industry and i'll be broke in the marijuana industry. You couldn't even comprehend the possibility of my having a journalism degree AND being a musician? Guess what, not only do I do those two things, AND grow some fine weed, but I started a coral farming business. That's right. Coral. Like Great Barrier Reef shit. And I am making about 75k a year since my junior year of high school. I am paying my own way through college ($35,000 a year out of state tuition). On top of that I have a home studio that I make beats in. You assumed I am just starting because I said I am getting a degree in audio engineering. That's just so I can f@ck with the big time studios out in Cali. I have about a $5k home studio that I have been making beats in since my freshman year of college. And I am pretty damn good and getting better every day. My scratching is on point. Some Pete Rock/DJ Premier shit. I could DJ every weekend and support myself, but I chose to do other things.

So. You can take all of those assumptions you made about my music capabilities, my financial capabilities, and my relationship and understanding of marijuana. You can lubricate a dildo with it. And then you can stick it in your butt.

I never said you won''t make money, please show me where I said this? I said you might have to pay some dues, I believe and have experienced that you cannot just blow into town and expect to get the royal treatment.
You couldn't even comprehend the possibility of my having a journalism degree AND being a musician?
Sure I can, nowhere did I say it cannot be done, stop putting words in my mouth that I CLEARLY never said.
but I started a coral farming business. That's right. Coral. Like Great Barrier Reef shit.
LOL, I'm sure thats exactly what this planet needs. I'm not even gonna start my rant about how unethical I feel this profession really is.

hahaha. You have no idea what you're talking about. I don't go with a wrecking ball and smash coral reefs and then take those corals and sell them. I propagate coral. Just like we also love to propagate marijuana on this site. And it started when I was in middle school in a 100 gallon reef tank. Those coral grow into colonies and I take scissors and literally snip off pieces off those corals with bone cutters or scissors, and those coral fragments grow into new colonies. I view my coral hobby and business the same way I view my marijuana growing hobby - I think it is the epitome of earthly and is integral for developing an understanding of this planet. They couldn't be more natural. If there is a God, he put them here for a reason. So I learn from it.

You're assumptions bite you in the ass again!

Now you can learn something!

P.S. I would not be stupid enough to show a video of my own coral business, for security reasons. Even though I only have a little PC case grow. F you Narcs.

"If you wanna move to cali to grow in peace for personal use, you can do so....you can find a job in some other industry and enjoy all the partying and pussy we have here." This sums it up. Imagine bringing people home and not worrying about going to jail. That is cali. However, you can't make money. It could be a part time job for some extra spending money and experience, but you need to have a source of income that covers the bills.

About the locks, those things don't work in California. You either gamble or you sleep next to your greenhouse and have someone there 24/7 most of the month or so of potential harvesting time.

You don't sound like you want to make a living growing. If that is the case, Cali is heaven, at least some places. Others are fucking ghetto. Jobs are hard as hell to get in Santa Cruz. Some are available in the bay but you have to get a shit job until you find a better one. Everything else might be more rural than you can imagine.

Cali offers peace of mind but others offer that also. If you have some other skills, I think it is better than other less booming places. Cali has it going on. Not necessarily in the herb game, but definitely a great place for music, the outdoors, city life, and dating...the last is crucially if you are just trying to grow some personal.

The weather is awesome. More so than the PNW. Colorado is tight but isolated. The front range isn't too bad. There are opportunities there, but it's not quite like Cali. Not that west coast shit.

Ok look, STOP PM'ING me, stop trying to instigate a fight. I am only going to respond to this cause I feel strongly about some of the issues brought up.
ahaha. You have no idea what you're talking about. I don't go with a wrecking ball and smash coral reefs and then take those corals and sell them. I propagate coral. I don't care how you do it, I feel like keeping fish or coral or birds or any living creature in a tank or cage or whateva is unethical. If you cared so much , why r you not putting coral back in the sea? How about the fact that over 80% of all coral reefs in the world are dying? And you just wanna make money off it. lol. I think its a cool skill that you have learned, just that it is unethical. I do however understand that by farming it , you are somehow saving the natural coral that your peers are mining off the living reefs. For that I give you props. I do however feel its unethical to sustain a unsustainable industry. When you start telling me that you give a % of your profits to help wild coral reefs, I might respect you more. Remember , giving back to the very idea you profit from is sustainable and ethical, or at the very least shows you care about something more than money.
I view my coral hobby and business the same way I view my marijuana growing hobby - I think it is the epitome of earthly and is integral for developing an understanding of this planet.
Congrats for getting your head outa your ass, and finally saying something that makes sense. If it help you understand our earth better, and has allowed tyou to come out of your ego and view the planet as a living , growing organism, GREAT!!! im happy for you:tiphat:
You're assumptions bite you in the ass again!
I have only assumed some things based upon your lack of explanation. In fact , I have not assumed that much wrong. If you go back and read your posts, then read my answers, they stem from a lack of understanding based upon your lack of information. It seems multiple other members have said similar feedback, yet you wanna incite me. Grow up.
P.S. I would not be stupid enough to show a video of my own coral business, for security reasons.
Is that illegal also? so your risking everything you have worked hard for since middle school, for a 96w computer case grow? why cant you just buy buds, with all the money you get from you other endeavors, does not make sense to me, anyway good luck

I read an article..I want to say in the New Yorker about a guy who grew out of his 3 bedroom appt. in Manhattan. I have much respect for the skill to pull that off, also the price premium NYC can demand made it surely all worth it.

Benefits of California, well...the whole state smokes marijuana. I'm joking but a realistic estimate would be 1/10.

if you want a good salary job in cali be prepared to work your ass off.

Literally. so much competition, theyre looking for the guy who will work overtime and weekends.

I make good $$ but sometimes I feel like I could move to GA or FL and be a little more chill. I have almost no time for partying or pussy. and if I did, I would probably not have such a good job....and if you dont have a good job, it makes going out on the strip IMPOSSIBLE (you can blow $300 in one night just yourself).

double edged sword, unfortunately.

I do. Just because I didn't say I don't doesn't mean that I don't. You made another one of those assumptions. I wasn't looking to spill my life story into this thread. Just find out some things about the ever changing California MMJ laws. Because I know things seem to change basically every day, and not being from California it is easy for me to be unaware of what is going on. I know my friends who smoke like me know VERY little about Cali MMJ legislation, besides the fact that it is 'better' than what we have. Because it is better, even if it isn't perfect.

I'll just throw this out: in any group of 20, you will have 19 losers who couldn't make it. The specifics don't matter. Med school applicants, growers with six figure ambition, doesn't matter. That's just life.

Now, in many med states, you've got to up your game. For the first time in the lives of many career growers, they are facing competition in their professions, and subsequently hitting the red panic button. Now, it's no longer any asshole with a set of testicles who will risk a raid gets 5K for his mediocre indica's. Now you've to work for a living, and, as you can imagine, that doesn't really jive with many residents of rural Northern California.

Come out here and manicure some nice strains and you can make good money in less than a year.

I empathize, I just hope you appreciate that there is no such thing as a reserved pace anywhere in the United States anymore. No such thing as not having to hustle, unless your parents have money.

Yeah, a nice house is only 140K in Florida. But to give you an idea, I'm educated with a skill-set and was offered 26K plus mediocre benefits for a job in St Pete. That was considered good money. The manager was at a loss when I refused for pay reasons.

There is money to be made in the manicuring business? Interesting.
I can see how a grower wouldn't even want to bother with it. I would be ultra-careful I was a grower trusting other people trimming my buds though...
