My girlfriend asked me .. She's a little nutty , I love her to death but I didn't have an answer other than the chromosomes don't line up for an ovule , egg or, pistil to be fertilized .. Anyone ? Thx ✌️

it's not such an odd question it seems..... my wife asked me the same thing just recently LOL
I would go way out on a limb and say not likely ;)

the answer seems to be no, but there is a route i'm curious about
can cannabis can be grafted onto a hops stalk?
one strange thing that can turn up in grafting is something called a 'sport', the graft mutates and something new emerges
it's quite rare to happen, but it would be wild to get such a thing with pollen, perhaps pollen that has both cannabis and hop genetics

You're thinking of a graft chimaera

I haven't found anything... was looking at it as one way of trying to produce double haploids ha!

Have you done any work with irradiated pollen Chim?

thank you, i think that would be a 'no' to my question

I was told the two can be grafted by someone that allegedly did so. But I did not see it, so take that with a grain of salt.

Maybe Chimera can clarify if Hops and Cannabis can indeed be grafted.

years ago I had some old hippy booklet about growing weed. It was like a comic book. I don't remember who wrote it or where it got too. it had a small chapter on grafting hops and cannabis. never tried it or investigated. wish I still had that book..... would be a good chuckle.

i have read credible posts that hops and cannabis can be grafted
but there isn't much value to it
a cannabis top on a hop base still looks like cannabis
although you might be able to graft in a side branch, where the cannabis branch would be obscured by the remaining hop vine
but these grafts need to be done on young plants, otherwise the grafts fail

So I have been told, you can graft a hop vine onto a cannabis rootstock but there is little point, as all the valuable chemicals are made in the buds, not the root

Google Bill Drake. If I remember right.
Edit:
Never mind, too late.
It had gems like this;

Cut my cannabis teeth on that book.

You're right. It was a common mis-perception years ago, however, so I'm sure people tried grafting hops & maybe other tops onto cannabis roots.

But if it could be done... I may go back to having a few beers! But the hop the Brewers use is the bud of that plant is it not? It's not the root...
