Question about lenses for bud shots

Just ordered a Canon EOS Rebel (350) XT lastnight. Comes with a 18-55mm lens. What lens do I need to get that will show the buds clearly in the best possible way? Also, do they make a lens that will show the glands up close? Any suggestions IC'ers?

Excellent choice, you will be more than pleased......i have the 300d with the same lens as the one you are getting, although not specificly for macro (1:2) that lens will give you decent macro pics till ya have the money for a proper (1:1) macro lens.

Hey resinryder, I have a 20D. The 100 mm is nice. If you get some extenders it helps for the trich shots. Now, if you got the cash, the MP-E65mm f/2.8 1-5X lense is killer. Through this lense I felt I was trapped in a sea of trichomes. Just lovely Helps to have a tripod and push button/computer assist and a macrolense light for excellent pics.

Here is an example of the len (if you want I can shoot something else, unfortuantely I don't have an buds to use) Now, I shot these free hand so they suck but this will give you an idea of the power of this lense.

Thanks for the replys guys/gals. Think I'll save the money and get a good lens for it later on. Great pics above I'm looking forward to getting some good shots myself. Love the ones that show detail of our favorite herb.

Hey hazyfontazy, The cheap price may have the international warrenty. For my US warrenty, the price was greater than $800 US when I bought it. Expensive but this lense is fun!
