Question about french Hemp

Hey guys,

I've been growing chili for the past decade and share your dedication to growing plants, so I am curious about a situation I came into last year. I was on vacation in burgundy, france. I explored the sourroundings with my son, who was seven at that time. Of course he wanted to discover all of the surroundings and we took a longer walk along the local river (I had my fishing rod with me) when we found a place in the woods that was like a canyon and only accessible from the way that we came from.

Anyway, I found some hemp there, like 15- 20 plants all over tha place, growing in cracks between the rocks and on the ground, so i thought that it grew there naturally. I took some of the blossom and dried it, but it was full of seeds so I put it aside and didnt try it.

I just found the blossom when cleaning up our basement and got curious: is "wild hemp" a common thing in france? At least where I am from, I never heared of it.

By the way I was near the city of noyers, this is the place on google maps:

France is a major producer of hemp for seeds and straw for bedding, I think they are up there with Italy,Italy has some strains they use for Bible paper and both have world renowned strains and sell them abroad for cultivation as well.
