The fan itself isn't that loud, it's just the vibrations that it puts off than can get annoying and audible noise. If you bungee hang it in the room with insulated ducting you'll be fine with the door closed.
most of my noise is coming rom the air being pushed out of the box got my 145 screw right to the box with weather strripping around the flange still needs a muffler to cut the air rushing out of the box with my getto riggrd muffler and a raido on low my girl friend walked right buy it and didnt say a word and thts was a good thing cuz she would have caslled the cops on me if she knew
instead of making a new thread I am just going to see if anyone can answer it in here. I am trying to choose between a dayton fan (either the 140 or 265) or a vortex fan (4" 172cfm). I am trying to make a stealth micro setup so I am basically trying to get the fan that is the quietest and most efficient. Any help would be great. Thanks
I have a dayton fan I dont use anymore. It is a 146 CFM.
It is not very loud but it isnt very efficient either. Those fans are not very good at pushing or pulling thru a carbon filter. I changed it for an elicient around 160 CFM i think and it was day and night. My temp dropped like 10 degrees.
I kept the fan for an intake if I do a bigger grow someday.
Bottom line: even if the price seems appealing, you will want to change it in no time and you will end up paying for both fans.
