Question about compost and lime

I have some home made compost, mainly from rabbit manure, hay, wood chips and lawn mower dump.

If I dig a whole and fill half with compost and half with planting soil, will the plants grow down into the compost and feed from it, or will it be too strong?

My planting soil has a ph of 6, but I have no idea what ph my compost is.
From what I read on the forums, I should mix 1 cup to every cubic foot of soil, or 2 tbs pr gallon? Figure I could at least add half of that, just to be an the safe side...?

I have some lime of a dutch brand (B.A.C. Kalk - 47% calcium lime, 5% magnesium) and on the label it says 2 grams pr liter soil, which is 7.5g pr gallon. One tbs of this stuff is 20g. Google doesnt give me much information about this brand...

Is this a weaker lime, or are the label directions just more conservative?
