As Megayields ALWAYS gives solid advice, I would like to add something...

The Doc Doom bombs are .01% pyryth, MANY other pyryth bombs are .10% pyryth, 10 times as strong. Look at the label before you buy the bomb. I personally like the small white cans, but they are $28 a can here...

I just got a couple cans of basf pyrethrin tr, it's 4% pyrethrins. I have a nasty whitefly outbreak and need those fuckers gone. Only thing is it says for 1500-3000 sq ft and my room is only 120 sq ft, don't want to hurt the plants. Someone wrote about filing the little tab that locks the fogger and spraying it manually, I may try that.

Hey Krunch, do those things kill mites, broad mites in this case? I'm guessing they don't kill mites but wondering what is your experience?

FWIW hot shot pests strips work for me.. one every 3 months... have to be able to shut down fans at night though ... Someone said they were dangerous but I kind of like my 3rd arm.. Makes trimming faster:biggrin:

Sorry for going a little off-topic here, but sum1 knows how to do a pyrethrum bomb, with the actual Chrysanthemum flowers? Would apreciate that really! Those flowers are really cheap, if this is simple to make maybe can save a lot of ppl some money!

Sorry again for asking this, but i can tell you that pyrethrum worked nice with me for prevention, when i had a mild infestation of mites, it wasn't enough, only plant vitality plus erradicated them.

Hey dmt...

I think bombs should only be used "between rounds"...don't know!?

Forget spraying, bombing, etc. I was prob the other post you read touting the use of a sulfur burner as a mite killer!!

If my proxy server didn't stop me from being able to start a thread for some reason!?! I would!!

I want to SCREAM from the treetops...!! As someone who has dealt with mites for a long time..perpetual garden and all. Spraying would work...but get close to the end and logistically moving, spraying, etc...PITA! Not to mention not wanting to spray the end product!

A friend turned me on the sulfur burning for mites and holy shit...!!

From fresh cut clones all the way up to the very end!! It knocks em right out!!

Procedure as follows...

With lights off (for at least an hour), turn all fans off, dehumidifier off, everything off...set up burner in center of room (as close as possible) it hangs from ceiling. Set it up on a timer, burn for about 2-3 hours...I have a small space, so I just fill the cup 1/3...that's it!! Let the smoke dissipate for a couple, 2-3 hours after burn is complete. Then go in and turn all your "stuff" back on.

IDK, I find it a hell of a lot easier than spraying (and neater)!! And as I said I think the bomb thing is only for between runs. Try sulfur...beyond the smell I have not found anything easier, or more devastating to mites!! (Oh yeah, kills mold also..)

Good Luck!

PS: follow the same regiment you would if spraying for mites. ie: every 3 to 5 days for 3 to 5 times...dependent on your infestation. It will wipe em out no problem!

Love it! ('Cause if you do it in flower it tastes NASTY!)

1-5ml/gal of Azamax or Azatrol in the res or in a soil/medium drench, day one of flower. Gives you that extra step of protection for the first 30 days.

Stay Safe! :blowbubbles:

is azamax systemic? will the plant absorb it?

Yes, azamax is systemic for root/leaf eating pests in addition to disrupting the feeding/growth of pests as a foliar spray.

edit; found this from general hydro
"It also is a good systemic product that plants can easily uptake through roots for efficient control of sucking, mining and leaf eating pests, a rare feature among biological or biochemical pesticides." there ya go

hey keep goin ,
thanks for the heads up man should of checked the thread before i left for the grow shop,
picked up a couple of cans of the pyrethrum bombs forgot to ask about the sulfer burner though!
ya man def sounds better then spending hours going over your plant tryin to kill them little buggers off with mighy wash or what ever!

so i know hydro soil said not to use in flowering because of messing with the taste ...but im only one week in right now and there is no flowers yet,so im left wondering if i could get away with a small little bombin, has anyone done this before ,cuz inbetween runs is not what i wanted to hear considering the grow shop is a 2 hour drive away, has anyone used this in veg before without problems?:)

Perscription treatment brand total release foggers. 8-10 bucks a piece. Been using them for at least ten years, and I havn't met a bug yet that it didn't kill. They are distributed by sunlight supply so your hydro store should have them. Don't use with less than two weeks left in flower, preferably longer or in between runs. They are pyrith mixed with something else, very effective.

Edit to add picture.

If your open to something other than bug bombs:

I don't like bug bombs it leaves a film and doesn't penetrate a large canopy very well. It also doesn't work very well. I was so pissed off when I discovered di-chlorvos. Also known as no-pest strips. Hang and walk away with faster, more complete results than bug bombs. No residue either. Think about this when something floats in the air it goes down to the ground. It does not float up very much. Where are the spidermites on the leaf or below? We need something designed to work from the air not to be dispenced from the air.

Some don't like how its toxic but it decomposes when exposed to water so it only lasts on the plant for a few days. I feel comfortable using up to 2 weeks before harvest. I am no chemo-phobe though, I have no fear of chemicals when used properly.

Do not just leave in your room for weeks, its not nessisary and is bad for the plants if constantly exposed for a week or more. Use for 3 or 4 days and remove. Bugs should be gone. If not take it out anyway for 2 days then reapply. I have never had to go a 2nd time. Its been first try every few months when I get lazy and don't change clothes when coming from outside.

My experience is strictly with spidermites and the room is obviously sealed with supplemental co2 to keep the dichlovos in and plants breathing. A cheap co2 generator can be made from sugar and yeast if you don't have one so you can do this cheap.
