ok thank you very much, i did not find deep cycle marine battery where iam but i feel a car battery will do the job, my question is how long this car batterie last ? and a stupid question maybe but is it rechargeable ?

Trickle Charger will charge it back up, as long as you don't drain it to low.

Had a battery last the whole year, pumping about 100-150 feet with a ten foot lift. The pump was a 15$ bilge pump for a boat. It was run an average of six hours a month for eighteen weeks. Beat the hell out of the five gallon bucket shuffle, no paths to the water with a single hose hidden.

I recently had to replace a 12v battery with a deep cycle 12v for an electric fence. Deep cycle is best because it gives its max charge every time you need it until it's gone. With the regular 12v I had, when it rained it would be enough to ground out the system because of the water making enough contact. Now with the deep cycle 12v heavy rain doesn't do anything, it reads a regular 6,200 Volts dry or wet. As it was explained to me regular 12v battery will give you a lesser metered charge to extend the battery's life. Time is everything so full strength is best.

deep cycle marine batteries are designed to be run until completely dead without harm. if you do this to a regular automotive battery, it can damage them. at least, that is how it worked a few years (decades?) back...

check several pumps before buying some have better pumping ability then others...I pumped up hill quite a distance uphill with mine and ran atleast 150 ft of hose buried....I still recommend car jump start batteries ...easy to carry and small..i brought mine in and out each time..their the same as marine batteries but smaller..any deep cycle battery should work.....yeehaw... !!!!!!!!!!make sure intake hose is stiff or it will collapse as suction starts

hello guys !

Well i would like to thank you very very much for all your help and your advices, im searching now for a good small battery and a good 12volt pump, to find a 12volt sturdy pump is not so easy, lots of pump are not so expenssive but not very sturdy. i wish i could buy a large pond pump like DoubleTripleOG advised me but i cant connect it on a car battery unless its a 12volt pump if i undesrtand well.

you can get DC powered water pumps that have over 200 ft. of lift, just depends how much pump you need and want to spend. Seaflo is one brand, and the one with 230ft of lift is around 200.00$.

hello redlaser, what do you mean by 200 feet of lift ? im looking on seaflo site and all their diaphragm pumps have no more than 6 feet of suction lift even for the biggest model, the 7 GPM

EDIT : i was watching the diaphragm pumps but they are more expenssive, i think bilge pump is what i need

this would work for shorter distances with maybe 4-5 foot high from the water source. It wont be a strong flow, just have to get one to see what it's capable of. I tried to fill trash cans in the back of a truck with one of these from a creek and it was slow, about two gallons a minute maybe. Hose was less than 15 feet long and total height pumped was about 10 foot. I'm not really sure how to calculate lift but it has to do with the pumps pressure. the seaflo pump I was looking at has 230 ft lift but can only be placed 100 feet below where you want to get the water to. I want to go 250ft. linear distance and go up 175 ft. These are well pumps and seaflo should only be one option, it seems they don't have positive reviews much

Gizmo how much higher than your water source is your "pump too" location ? And also how far away ?

i have the grow spot with severals sites on it, there is no many rainfall in my area during grow season, maybe a few spring rain in april/may and some others during the summer but it depends of the year more or less but not too much water, not enough to collect.
i will use water retaining cristals on the native soil and water soluble fertilizers, the plan is to come to water once a week not more. i will find a pump, maybe a cheap bilge pump to make a test in the month to come, if the pump dont do the job i will return it to amazon, its convenient to be able to return amazon products and be refunded :)

check harbor freight for pumps....marine bilge pumps wont cut it for any kind of distance..they aren't designed for that....yeehaw..around 6 ft is common for intake length and make sure to get a hose that wont collapse on the suction side....I have been there and done what you are trying to do...forget bilge pumps...I think my pumps were around 60$ ..its been a while but that sounds around the price..the gas pump was 360$ and noisy as hell..used it once and decided it wasn't the right tool for the job..no stealth....get a pump like I pictured but read its limitations they aint all created equal...some pump higher and more water...get best you can find...I was pumping way higher and further away..you shouldn't have any problems...you don't need a heavy battery a small one will work fine..no problem packing it in and out and recharge at home,,i thought I had pics and specs on my pump under supermanlives name....

found my old post under supermanlives ..mine was 48 ft head and 7 ft suction hose from water source and was about 70$ from harbor freight.....yeehaw...pumps shouldn't run more than a half hour if I remember right ..so I had 2....one did fail and was replaced so getting the warrantee is worth it...I would sit on a rock on the stream and pretend I was fishing while it was going...had hose hidden in an under cut bank ..reach in and attach intake and output and pump away,,,i would later hide the pumps but pack out small battery and recharge at home...

ok i found a pump, its a good quality american pump, 12v, 360 GPH, total dynamic head 25 feet, 15 minutes use. cant find better where iam.

Any chance of setting up a good ole fashion ramp pump? Idk if youve ever messed with one, but they require no electricity or power of any kind. You kind of need to be in the right situation for it to be a good option.
Edit/add: You can build up one of these pretty reasonable at home to.

well it will be cool but i cant in my situation, my water source comes from a big river below my spot, initially i was planning to go back and forth from the river with a 4 gallons bucket of water to fill my reservoir, the good old method lol but i really dont want to be seen by a retreated serviceman went fishing at 4 AM so i switch to the pump idea.
