Purple Satellite 2022

I’m growing out some Purple Satellite f2s outdoors this summer.

Seeds were started May 2. Even the seedlings had purple tinges!

Of the 5 started 2 were lost in a hailstorm.

As of today 2 of the 3 are showing sex. I have a male and a female. The purple stems are gorgeous.

One week later.

Still no sign of sex on #3. The Male and Female are now over 3’ tall.
The Male is looking quite lanky I’m planning on moving him soon to limit his mating.

The female is looking good.

I have now moved the male.

The other 2 are definitely females. The one is over a meter tall at 40 inches

Female 2 is 3 feet tall

Female #1 is fully flowering

#2 is lagging behind and less purple

I’m have lightly pollinated the earlier female as the early trait is most important to me (it’s also the prettier plant) so as to have some f3s
