week17- starting to flush with 200ppm solution. the top thumbnail in hps light is of my huge girl, too big to move, middle pic is a huge bud that keeps wanting to throw out new white pistils, and the bottom is a full plant shot of my 2nd PHM that was out for a flush

Hi jammie been following your monsters, awsome work.
I wrote a huge reply to your question and then stoned hit a wrong button and lost the lot!
I have been vaping malawi dry sift and chewing a piece of cob, no wonder the eye, hand co ordination is cactus.
The light airy sativa buds make excelent cobs, if you strip all the flower material off the storks, once they snap and the buds are smokable. The flower pieces should stick back together with the resin they are coated in.
The cob making is easy, its like making a jiant spliff, I use husks that have been taken off the maize and dried for a couple of days they seem to be easier to work with.
Bind the cob as tight as you can and leave it to dry in the air in a cool place for a week.
Then I vacuum seal the cobs in vac bags for 3 to 4 weeks, keeping an eye on them for signs of mold. If you see mold open the bag and let the cob dry in a cool dry place.
If all goes well after 4 weeks remove the cobs from the seeled bags, and let them dry in the air in a cool place for a week or so.
Then open them and inspect them, before rewrapping them and binding them up tighter.
They should be slightly moist, red, brown and yellow Autumn type colors, not the green type they were in the biggining.
As they further dry they will become solid masses of bud, you should need to use a knife to cut slices off and you will need a grinder to mull up the cob for smoking.
The smoke should be sweet, dense smoke and very strong hitting. 2 or 3 drags should be enough. Its like different plant when you smoke jar dried alongside cob cured same plant.
Good luck, all my Aussie mates are hooked for their personal smoke, they cob it.

^^ kick ass post! :) i've saved this cob cure tutorial so i can find it later. thanks Tangwena.

the purple haze/malawi cross make so much sense. another great ace offering. i screwed up my purple haze from dubi. i had such a super nice male with strong purple coloration that i culled my other males. the phz male went a little too hermie for my liking. i'm an outdoor guerrilla grower and hermies can rooster an entire crop in one field. i've later discovered that in some landraces even though the males might show some hermi issues the females can be hermie free. for me doing grows where i can't come in frequently to check for hermies the risk was too great.

i'll be back spending more money with ace seeds. the purple and green hazes and crosses to be made look exceptional. subbed to this thread.

nice grow jammie and looking forward to the smoke reports! :)

Hi jammie,

How are the ph of your water/feeding solution and the temps in your flowering room ?

The leaf curling in tropical sativas happens indoors when the sativa has too much N or the ph is wrong, when the light is not enough intense or when the temps are too high (or a combination of this three).

If the tops are burnt, the sativa tries to reveg producing new fresh pistils. This is very typical with the very sativa dominant strains.

Hi jammie,

Thanks for start the diary :) So you are growing the purple haze x malawi killer F1 fem hybrid, isn't ?

We have found an early flowering purple expression coming from the pure malawi population that we indeed call Purple Malawi but Purple Malawi has not been crossed to haze yet. Purple Malawi pheno and Purple Haze x Malawi killer (green silverish pheno) are different.

Best wishes!

Hi, I realize this is an old thread but I recently bought a clone from a dispensary in Colorado and it is labeled Purple Malawi. I am curious whether this is the purple malawi pheno you speak of, or if it purple haze x malawi.

I purchased the clone at La Conte's Clone Bar in Denver. I can provide a picture if it helps. I would like to know how long of a flowering period I am in for. I rarely heard of any other strains taking 80+ days indoors but Ace seeds says this will take 102 days

Purple Malawi OR Purple Haze X Killer Malawi?

Purple Malawi OR Purple Haze X Killer Malawi?

Hello jammie

Thanks for the reply! Here are some pics of my one clone labeled Purple Malawi. When I purchased it I forgot to ask what the exact genetics are.

It's about 10-14 days into flowering so it's probably too early to tell what strain, but I'll post more pics as she grows.
