Proxy server issues with icmag

Sorry, Let me introduce myself, "Hi, I am Stupid!"

Sorry, Let me introduce myself, "Hi, I am Stupid!"

You indicated you are using Tor in a later post. Tor keeps circuits alive for a maximum period of 10 minutes unless it is a "long lived" port / circuit.

I suspect that when you are getting spontaneously logged out now it might be because your login is associated with a session cookie bound to an IP address where it started. Most sites don't do this precisely because it causes problems for AOL users and proxy users and whoever else. Skip might know :)

The other cause might be other Tor users at the same exit logging out, but again this would imply poor session tracking on the web server side and Skip seems more capable than this.

I dunno, hell, I don't even know what you said there? I am kinda of an ignorant fuck when it comes to this stuff lol. I will try to re-read this slower, but if you could translate this to "stupid" then that may be good too lol.

So my last guess is to have you turn on notice logging in Tor, use Vidalia or TorK to control it, and determine if your logging out is associated with changing exit behavior in Tor, and perhaps add port 443 and 80 to the long lived ports Tor option.

I am googling "turn on notice logging",
don't laugh! Again, you may need to dumb this down for me, I will look for those options in my control panel for vidalia. I don't remember seeing them though...

Also, please use HTTPS over Tor as much as possible, especially for logging in. Otherwise a rogue exit node, if/when they exist, can grab your account creds.

Good luck to you!

So how do I use HTTPS? I always thought that at the top, the address bar, it is one or the other, but I didn't realize I could determine that? Again, this shows you the level of my ignorance, but what am I supposed to do?

I appreciate the help and reply thank you, I will try to figure out what you are talking about, not knocking you at all, just don't know alot about this stuff, I installed it, it ran, it worked for a long time, now it don't? That's about as much as I know.:wallbash:

OK!
HOld the phone!
I don't know if this is good or bad really, but I just went into my firefox tools options, and set it to allow cookies for just this one site...
and wouldn't you know, no problems, I have yet to be booted and have to re-log in, just made a couple posts and opened a couple new tabs/threads, and stayed on..
hmmm....
I am still trying to figure out whatchya mean by using the https, so I can set that? Port 443? How? Thanks. Hope I didn't just jynx myself here and when I hit the quick reply button, if it makes me re-log in, I will throw my laptop through the wall!

I promise, I am not trying to be a douche, but I will post this and then just sit out and read, just to let you know, again, everything is as it was, keeping me logged in like a constipated old lady that needs some bran! Couldn't be happier about that, I also just closed my browser, re-opened it, and came here by using the https, I think?
Here is what I did...
I typed this in the address bar,

https://www.icmag.com

That's it? Really you just have to type it in this way? I also noticed a little padlock icon in the bottom right, but it has a red exclamation point, but it also had some shit in there when I clicked on it, it all looked over my head, but is this what yous guys meant by using "https" just type it in there? Shit! I thought it was more involved than that, but if that's it then thanks for looking out. Appreciate it, if I am waaaaay out in left field or missing the boat here please let me know, but I feel pretty happy. Thanks again.

Have you tried using the link next to the message box, under the smilies, My photos/insert link?

That leads you to this page:
https://www.icmag.com/ic/photo_popup.php?e=vB_Editor_001

Let me know how it works for you.

BTW, when you do the album tab, you don't need to copy the img links, just drag the image into your message. Not sure if that would fix it or not for you.

Unfortunately, when i try to acces the "" Insert " in my photos, the page comes up as an error. It says
ERROR

The requested URL could not be retrieved

The following error was encountered while trying to retrieve the URL: http://ic/photo_popup.php?
Unable to determine IP address from host name ic
The DNS server returned:
Name Error: The domain name does not exist.

Yup. Easy!

I also noticed a little padlock icon in the bottom right, but it has a red exclamation point, but it also had some shit in there when I clicked on it, it all looked over my head, but is this what yous guys meant by using "https" just type it in there?

The little padlock icon with a point is OK. Normally for banking and stuff like that a exclamation point means there might be risk. In the case of icmag.com, it is to alleviate some of the load on the server I think.

It just means that some of the images and other content linked from the site is going over HTTP while the pages and login forms and such use HTTPS secure sessions.

Nothing to be concerned about. Sounds like you are all set!
