It's a large part of those new "water enhancement" drops you see advertised under the brand name "Mio". I avoid chemicals like that in my diet as a matter of choice...for the same reasons I choose to pay more for non-gmo organic veggies, grass-fed beef, free range chicken and raw milk, however millions of Americans consume the stuff each day. "They say" it's safe. "They" also say the food you're eating is healthy and isn't the reason that heart disease, cancer and stroke are the leading causes of death in America. I choose to question everything "they say" for damn good reason.

Bottom line: It's probably not going to make you sick or cause any sort of immediate reaction, but most of us choose to avoid all aspects of artificial because the way nature intended is supremely effective, and keeping that stuff out of your soil allows for nature to do as it pleases with as stable an environment as possible.
Very eloquently put.
The reason heart disease, cancer, and stroke are leading causes of death is that we now outlive many of the other causes. We're going to die from something and these 3 are what is left.
None the same, my instincts tend to agree with you though I am not as strict in my lifestyle.
I see they have pomegranate flavored Mio, Don't tell me that's not healthy. They even add red color.

One small point concerning the life expectancy thing; Most American 'history' books for children attending school from the early 1900s through to almost present (as far as I know) teach that when Europeans came along that the life expectancy of the North American (NA) Indian was increased vastly. I've read estimates as low as 30 years for their supposed original lifespan. In fact the exact opposite took place. Most NA indigenous peoples enjoyed a long life into their 70s, 80s and even 90s+ until partaking of white death from the Europeans in the form of sugar and disease [nevermind bullets]. It is only after this initial kick in the head that through European based medicine that life expectancy increased. In short, I fully agree that diabetes, heart disease and cancer are directly related to the basic NA diet and lifestyle.

Another interesting change in the history books I noticed is that there is seldom mentioned that an invading Canadian (black ops :>) Militia successfully torched most of the white house.

I could continue my argument to counter yours, but I won't hijack your thread. I will tell you that I believe strongly in natural medicine, that there are many proven cures for cancer out there that are not patentable and thus not validated in the world of western medicine, and that "agri-business" as well as the government of our once-great land is contributing to the deteriorating health of it's people. Call me a kook or whatever you will, but the deeper you dive into organic farming of not only pot, but vegetables and food especially, the more your eyes will open.

LOL! Funny, but I fear this is the majority mentality. I have a friend who is allergic to red #40. She took a red multivitamin (ironic) a couple weeks ago and broke out in hives for the rest of the night!

I think they like to give average lifespan. You died young or lived to be old. Confinement by settlers leading to a limited diet lead to unhealthy lifestyles. Wild meat is very lean and as fields were repeatedly planted, nutrition was diminished and variation dwindled down to just a few crops.. Many food sources that were not easily cultivatable were abandoned. The only thing was, there was more of this diminished food available and the NA's soon followed the English philosophy that fat was healthy.
Thus many are tainted on the ways of our recent past and are shy or unwilling to accept any of it. I feel this can be just as big of a mistake. While rapid change back is in order, we just can't do what we did, we still need to thoroughly examine without prejudice what has come to be.

Hijack away. That's the point here. I don't have stock in Dow, don't really care about using this stuff. Hoped it would lead to discussions such as this.
