I thought I was a breeder....I have been growing for 30 years...small grows. I buy quality genetics from breeders at Seedbay and then cross these for my own and other med patients enjoyment and relief. What am I trying to accomplish? I am not selling the seeds, the clones are not going into any gene pool.
No offence doobie, but you're being overly simplistic. Even if by a fluke you did come up with a "holy grail", do you have the knowledge to breed for the desirable traits, breed out the undesirable traits, and eventually take that holy grail to IBL status whereby you can pick 5 beans out of a pile of 100 and know exactly what to expect, and more importantly exactly what others can expect? If you do, then I might credit you with the word "breeder". Otherwise you are just somebody who makes seeds (hack is taking it a bit too far - I know a so-called breeder or three who I'd define as hack, shill and even worse, the hacks try to profit from sale of their goods by misrepresenting their genetics and/or breeding abilities). And the number of years you've been growing has no bearing at all in your ability to "breed"...you're just able to make an informed shot in the dark as to what that male and that female might produce when banged together.
Breeding is Science, Intuition and Art....not just one of the above.
Again, absolutely not a pot shot at you, just a thought or two in regard to the breeder vs. seedmaker issue.
P.S. You're plant is overferted
