preparing for harvest soon a few quick ?'s.

I have a couple questions.
1 Ive heard 50/50 feedmack on the 48 hour dark cycle should I give them 48 hours darkness before chop and 2 do I let her dry up before chop and 3 Should I start flushing a few weeks before the chop. Sorry for the hassle but shit I have had a few first grows where i cut my shit to early cause I was lookin at the pistils color and not the triches lol and damn another where I dried to quick so I am doing this one right lol!!!!!!!!!

Looks like a few weeks form harvest
So aye now is a good time to Flush...I Dont technically flush them,i do just use plain water for the last few weeks tho(just no flushing)

I have read about the 2-3 day dark before chop...Myself i dont bother doing it....


I have let whole plants hang(when i did not have enough jars so wanted to add time to the dry)
I did not notice any diff really doing it that way or by stripping/hanging....



this is the most nerve wracking part(well least for me)
My advice is
Unless u have your strain/timeing down to a fine art
When u think there ready,They could go a little longer(if that makes sense)

I give them then 48 hours dark just because, I mean why not, but I remember when I used to be on OG a while ago people used to put a exterior grade screw through the main stalk at the base of the plant just to get it to freak out in those 48 hours of darkness ever more and possibly produce more resin, which I believe my plant did. I flush for one week and then nothin for the last day or too plus the 48 hours, once i cut it down i have drying boxes I put my buds in after I seperate them form their stems

Flushing is for hydro growers,I grow in soil and have never flushed

I like the darkness to make sure if there is any ferts still in the plant they are at the roots when chopped...

Wow allot of different opinions on this subject. So what is the 48 hour period supposed to do for the plant and if i dont flush will i get a chemical taste to my nugs? So many different options lol damn and being high. Please more feedback befoe i make my decision please and by the way everyone thanks for stoppin in and helping me out. It means allot and hopefully someday i will be able to return the favors.

I never flush growing in soil, just back off the ferts a couple weeks before harvest. As for the darkness trick, I have tried all of them and never noticed a difference.....

Im in soil, and use clearex to flush the last week and a half or so.

Cant hurt.

I just switch to plain water for the last 3 weeks. I do on occasion do the 48 hours of dark,but have never been able to tell any difference. And yes I try not to harvest directly after watering.

Watering before harvest is a matter of preference.I like to water sebveral hours before harvest so that the plant is fully hydrated thus taking longer to dry,other folks may want to do just the opposite if they're in a hurry.I'll take a fully hydrated slow drying plant anyday over a crispy dry thirsty plant that'll dry in a heartbeat

Thanks for all the great info I m going to experiment a lil bit when I harvest with the darrk and nutes and stuff on different ladies and see what the outcome is I will post results later after harvest cure and smoke lol Dre 86 its around 600 watts all CFL and Floro and yes that is the actual wattage. I'm going with 48 hours of light this time. I usually do the dark. My logic is that resins are produced in response to light/UVB. More light = More resins? I'll see if I can tell any difference.

Damn, and Ive been flushing for 1-1.5 weeks every time!?!?

By back off, do you mean entirely, or just a less concentration?

I stop them alltogether about 10 days before harvesting. As your supposed to fert every week, I find that 10 days to 2 weeks should clear them of anything extra they have stored up. To be honest, I have ferted right up until harvest and never noticed any difference in taste though....

My nutes are diff.

I water one day, feed the next as long as they are dry, with various diff feed combos throughout the 1st 3/4 and the last 1/4 is flushing.
