Power cord management with light mover?

I an putting two 600w HPS on an a Lightrail 3.5 mover. Has anyone wrestled with managing large gauge HID power cords as the reflectors move to and fro? If I just leave the cords dangling they tend to interfere with the reflector alignment. Hopefully there is an effective and possibly elegant answer that someone here has come up with that can be referenced for new grow room builders and as a starting point for innovators.

I have used search and cannot find any previous threads regarding this. Would be happy to have pointers if the topic has already been covered.

I have a 400 hanging from my light rail. I really wish I had more length on my cords, both for the light, and for the drive motor. I simply used a cup hook in the ceiling to hang them,... yeah, at the far right end of movement the reflector gets a little out of sorts,... but nothing worth worrying about.

Good luck, and hopefully someone will chime in with a really killer clever idea for both of us! :tiphat:

All you need to do is get a curtain track. Yoy know the piece of metel that goes the length of a sliding door, with curtains in it that slide back and forth. Keep it about three feet away from the track and run it parallel with the track. Another method i used before the track, is a simple hook in the ceiling. Right about in the middle of the track, and off to one side about 4-6 inches. Make sure the where the cord hooks on the hook that you have the cord long enough to reach when the track goes around the cogwheel, staple any pre-hook wire to the cieling or wherever you can to get it out of the way. This also works for six inch ductwork to cool a light on a mover, picking the right pivot point is paramount in this process......but it works, i've done it more than once, hope this helps

I knew coming back to this thread would offer up some ideas. I currently have my room set up with vertizontal parabolics, but I still have a light-mover, and the biggest problem with it was cord management.

Thanks, frankenstein!

Couple ideas for ya guys-
1.They to make a cord slave for those light tracks. It is basically a upside down roller skate, with a hook to hold the cords.
2. Those retractable key chains(or even plant yo yo's, if you can find the no ratcheting kind) hooked to the ceiling would keep the cords under control and out of the plants.
3. If your lights are moving all around(other than back and forth that is), connect them with something(a piece of solid ducting is the first thing that comes to mind for me, or even two pieces of carpet transition strip screwed to them with self tapping screws)

I have my cord setup to be stationary in the middle of the mover on the wall. Then i have enough slack to go either way of the mover with out interfering with anything else.

i've been running this set-up for 5+ years now.i just run the cords with the flexable ducting that runs to my ducted fan.the fan has to move this way,so it's mounted to a old water pump from my suby.hope this helps.
