Powdery Mildew and mold

I recently discovered my rooted clones and seedlings had sum kinda mold . Its not on the plants tho , its on the top of the coco thats in the container. So I scraped it off and it came right back. So I sprayed the surface of the coco with That 3 in 1 spray made by "Safer". Then I took them to another room on the top level of my house and put them under a 400mh.

The room they were in before had sum plants that were about a foot tall that I started flowering last night. Then today I notice the surface of those plants has sumthin to but not the same lookin mold. Looks powdery and spotty, not like the mold I found on the smaller ones that looked like regular old mold.

So Im thinkin its Powdery Mildew but its not on the plants themselves. Everything I have read online suggests Powdery Mildew starts on the plant itself. Is it possible for PM to start on the surface of the media itself and then spread its way up the stalk and to the plant? I have never seen mold or mildew in ten years of growing except for in sum really thick mature buds back in the day b4 I started using a dehumid at night.

So what should I do? Should I just kill em all and start over? I dont want this shit spreading into my flowering room which has 14 plants 3 weeks into flowering. I had 2 plants that were in the veg room where the mold/mildew started that I put into my main flowering room last night(16 total in there), should I remove those? I dont see any sign of anything on those 2 so I felt ok bout puttin them into the main flowering room.

Is there anything that totally kills powdery mildew? What about the mold? Im on the verge of killin the 7 rooted clones and 10 seedlings that are affected and poppin sum new beans of which I have plenty of. Just sux cuz this was gonna be my next crop to throw into the flowering room in 5-6 weeks when everything else is done. Now I will be set back a few weeks for trhe next harv but I can live with that.

The room where all this started hasnt had good air exchange lately and Im willing to bet thats how this all started, totally my fault. But like I said, I have never had mold or mildew so I wasnt taking any preventative measures such as keeping alot of fresh air coming into the veg/clone room. Now I know and I wont make that mistake again.

don't kill anything, it's just fungus growing on the coco... it's not dangerous, in fact, different fungi exist in the soil (and coco) symbiotically with the roots and aid in nutrient breakdown/uptake. So, don't worry. Maybe water a little less if you get fungus on the top layer.

i'm kind of agreeing with the guy above-

you should easily be able to recognise PM-faint white patches on the leaves that become less faint and more numerous as it gets hold. I've seen alsorts of fungus, algae and shit growing on damp coir-its never seemed to cause a problem-one solution is to put a layer of clay pebbles on top of the coir

I use panda film on top of my coco filled pots to prevent algae for growing. Just cut to fit

I went and got some Safer brand Garden Fungicide and Im hopin it works. I know its worked for other ppl on here. I do have a bunch of hydroton that I never got around to using so maybe I'll put a layer of that in and see if it helps. I dont wanna water less becuz they always get droopy when too dry. Im gonna try and defeat whatever this stuff is and just keep these isolated in the newly setup room that they're in now. And this isnt some kinda beneficial mold trust me, I've grown in cococan before and know what to expect and this isnt normal. Its the result of bad air exchange in the room where it originated.

If you never got around to using the Hydrotron make sure you rinse it really well first. You can use a kitchen colander after letting the rocks soak for a while in a sink or bucket. Once you start to run water through it you see why you need to clean it first. (Brown/red residue)

Assuming you didn't know that. :)

I apologize if ya did.

I've sprayed seeds not quite even fully out of the pod with that Safer 3-in-1 spray before. That stuff is great. It really does the job and it's so gentle on the plants it's amazing.

Ya I have used hydroton before so I know how to rinse it but thanks. I just happen to have alot sittin around unused. I usually put a bunch of holes in the bag and then put it in the bathtub and rinse it that way. I dont see any new mold today since I sprayed the garden fungicide so Im optimistic. Alot of them are kinda droppy now tho from all the stress so I might just trash em all and pop some new beans. Think Im also gonna put my botanicare 2x4 tray to use and try sum ebb and flow. Never tried it before so I guess its time to hit the hydro section of the forum.

I like the "holes in bag" idea.

If ya don't cover the pots the mold will come back.

I use coco for my mothers with Flood & Drain feeding 1 time per day. Works perfectly. Better than any other method I've tried. You'll like it.

I had to kill 2 cuz they got mold again and started lookin really unhealthy but the rest are mold free and its been a few days. And I have never had to cover any containers before ever. Never thought I would need to. Im prolly gonna cut 2 six inch holes in the wall and have an intake and exhuast like my big flowering room has. That way I can put a small carbon scrubber with a 6 inch fan on top of it set on a timer every half hour or so to push old air out and have a 6 inch fan bringin new air in from the other side of the wall. I have used this concept of a dedicated intake and exhuast room with my 2400 watt room and it works to perfection. That way I can keep the room sealed and odor to a minimum. I just got lazy this time with the veg room and dint do anything like that , lesson learned.

So you dont think ebb and flow with coco clogs anything up? I cant decide whether to use hydroton, rockwool or coco. Rockwool is expensive plus I already have coco and hydroton so I guess I will flip a coin or sumthin
