Pots

Why do the dutch use square pots? i understand it saves a little bit of space and in Holland that space is priceless. But the Nederlanders need to take advantage of the ribbed pots. Like Martha Stewart suggests. Gives you way more surface area for the roots to grow by forcing the roots back across the pot as they reach for the sides. Just a suggestion or question .... however you look at it. Love those dutch growers Jubei

Iuse rectangular storage containers for my soil pots, there cheap u can use the lid for a tray and the roots dont go around the outside in a swirl like in round pots they come up the sides and i beleive they go back in towards the centree of the pots

Interesting I never thought about how the shape of the container could effect root development. I use round but square could squeeze a few more inches out of my grow space.

Cube shaped planter can get you as much as 50% more soil volume in the same space as a round, tapered container. For example, the footprint of the square pots in this picture is about 1/2 inch bigger on all sides, yet it holds seven gallons and the round planter holds three. That is a significant difference for a plant that values root space as much as cannabis does.

Square Pots A Good Choice... Ribbed Or Not....IMVHO

Square Pots A Good Choice... Ribbed Or Not....IMVHO

Have always used square pots cause they seem to promote a healthy fast grow...compared to round pots anyway...seems that round pots always caused problems...odd, like it was always a round pot the mutie was in, or a round pot that the plant grew sooooo slowwww in...here's a few pics growing in all square pots....

hahahaha, very funny Badmf....very funny indeed :biglaugh: And I still like square pots....they make the best use of space in a confined area.

How do you reach all those little ones it reminds me of that tile puzzle game where you slide the pieces around till there all in the right space. Seriously that is more efficient use of space!

I find sq pots work more efficiently and uniformly in the grow space than round. I use kitten liter containers which give me 4 gal volume, and great depth for root growth.
Just my opinion.

Stay safe.

ribbed pots

Here is a pic. Mostly found at nurseries and garden centers. Seen some square pots with ribs i would really like to try those but space is only saved when they are young unless you crowd them when they mature. I like to grow bigass plants like BOG so maybe that is the difference. Hope to hear some more about the dutch grow seen and why i don't see them using aircooled lights anymore? strange to me but all good. Good Luck Jubei
