Pot size for max outdoor growth

I've done more than a couple container grows in my day...The cheapest containers are laundry buckets from wal-mart..they have 18 and 13 gal buckets from 5-8 dollars apiece.Spray the top edges of the container too camoflauge and dig holes and drop them in...This has multiple reasons,#1-Security,buckets really stand out.#2-Containers in the sun get very hot.#3-Plants in containers always start to go into bud once they become rootbound. Some strains planted in the ground w/o containers will just keep on vegging until the snow flies.I've experimented with this dilema and the container plants always produce.A nd clones can be even more problematic..I've had em start budding right away..so go figure. Give em as much dirt as you can water...Big container plants will take 1.5-2 gallons of water per session..so do the math first!! You'll need a close-by water source.Good luck!!

Hi folks,
I am a container outdoor grower. From my experiances, you should expect 1oz. per gallon pot you are growing in. Give or take- just a basic rule.
I also take the time to bury the pot. It keeps the plant that much shorter. This way its stealthier and you keep the benefit of being able to move it if needed.

For a simple outdoor grow set-up.....Check out Roots bag soil. It is designed to grow our favorite herb...and the bags are camoflauge.

i think we have 5 gallon pots can someone post pics of 5,7,10,15 let me know thanks

good luck with yer lunkers, tokin joe! yes bigger is better. the lazy and bountiful way to go is in the ground with a water table 2 or 3 feet down. you water when you plant only and get amazing growth rate with massive plants at season end. the biggest container I have used was two 22 gallon, dark brown trash cans with tan and grey spray paint slashes for camo(desert area). the growth rate and bud amount were seriously worth the effort. have always wanted to try the standard american 32 gal trash can just for shits and grins.

These were grown in 8 gallon pots, the others in 5 gallon white buckets with holes drilled in the bottom. Didn't seem to bother them much. Good luck. :woohoo:

The last picture is the 5 gallon buckets.

Nice KGB-great looking colas. Out of curiosity, how much did you yield from an 8 gal? I want to know if my figures are correct.

Depended on the plant really. The true Sativas yeilded about 2 oz.+ per 8 gallon pot, give or take a little, the rest varied but all were over 1oz. for the most part. I didn't do a good job of keeping track of the weights last year, i had about 12 plants to tend and trim by myself and all finished about the same time, keeping me very busy.

This was from the White Rhino last year, yeilded about 1 and a half oz.

I grew in 10 gallon grow bags last year. I had an 11 footer in one and 7 footer in another...total weight would've been about 2 lbs but the bigger one got botrytis. I harvested what I could and left them out there. Since we have lovely weather here, they might still be out there...I need to go check on 'em. Maybe I'll do that tomorrow ;)

Oh yeah...I have 15 gallon grow bags for my next grow.
