I have been lurking here for years and bought beans from here for years back in the plural of kush seed blow out days .
But it was a thread about off the shelf bulb measurement that has me as excited as the day i bought my own place and my first 430 W HPS with the extra blue ya know.

This whole led bulb thing has me going in circles. Mental Gymnastics anyone?
I am now considering removing my beloved 315 from my tent and doing a 12/12 seed run ( after the current 12/12 of northern light is finished in the tent one of two of my flowering spaces ) with 4 100W ghetto strips
If you were like me I always wondered how an off the shelf led would perform but i was to busy with my hard on for the 315's to even have led's om my radar.
Then i stared on a new board and ths guy was rocking out some Illumetex led's and knocking it out of the park. This guys game is at a different level Thanks PJ.
so with that i wanted what he had then i looked em up 1500 bucks not on this handyman paper chasing budget. so i bought my then 3rd 315. a few days later a buddy pointed me to the "thread"....
I started down this path by wanting to get rid of some first gen panels a ufo 120W and a mars 130W so i bought some smal profile sockets and some 3000 and 2700 off the shelf bulbs and started poping diffusers off and wiring some Ghetto strips as i lovingly call them as my mentor keeps bashing me for not using what works and run with it. Dude still blasts multi K grows with the same soil nutes and strain for 20 years and thinks i am on the kool aid ha ha.
My push lately has been to up my game to use the 315 to its abilities and to lower my power foot print. but i got distracted...
I know i am going backward on the whole power consumption thing but i want to go from start to finish to see if this whole off the shelf bulb thing i'm hooked on and it's viability in a tent setting as opposed to a grow cab. I will be cheating at first because of the iffy nature of the whole 12/12 from seed thing and the constant need to fill M/T jars for my patients and myself.
I will be cheating supplementing the tent with natural light when available and it warms up. i was also pondering installing a few tri band Chinese burple 12 w bulbs to make sure i had some blue and red i was also considering (100 W of misc) two 4' power veg or hortilux color tubes to help cheat and provide the two outer bands of light being UV and far reds.
With a 315 on the shelf not paying it's own way I might bump the wattage on the closet (again a backwards move but a light over each 2x2 tray as opposed to two splitting the tray seems gives me a photon induced woodie and if i am still going 12/12 from seed i am saving all that veg power budget.
I want to continue to experiment in the closet by finishing the goal of plumbing two hydro and one drain only tray to play with a 2x2 smart pot liner. i need more free time...
