umm its a class at a art college but im going to flat out tell them i want to make bowls and stuff so thats what im going to focus on. hopefully i meet some other hopeful pipe makers cause i just moved to town and i need to meet some more potheads. o if they say i cant make bowls ill just ask them if they know a place where they make them. but i already payed for the classes so ill just learn the art even if they wont let me make pieces.

I think that unfortunately, for the most part 'mainstream' glass studios/schools frown upon making and providing instruction to make smoking pieces in their classes. If you're familiar with Pakoh (another elite artist), he has a whole thing about 'that aint art'...check his website, it's great. Don't wanna speak for him, but think that phrase and some of his pieces are a reflection on the fact that in general functional glass art is looked down on by the mainstream glass art crowd.

If you're just starting out I'd think getting the basics and a feel for the glass down would be real helpful when you wanna make the transition to making the good stuff. Might as well get the shit outta the way, so when you start making pieces they come out decent from the get go. I'm definitely jealous if you get to play with glass in any form.

damn that was some rambling,, tooo many ssh n bho snappers for me... :joint: :bashhead:

For function...JP. Who else? This man is an innovative genius.

For form...Kevin Nail. I'm a sucker for fume and haven't seen anyone do it close to his level, except maybe Maka.

Claw gets a lotta love from me as well. His were some of the first headies I smoked, and he's a fellow midwesterner. Not to mention most of his stuff is on another level as well. Too bad only piece I have from him right now is a fumed oner.

I don't think you got ripped, It looks quite thick and it's glass on glass, and a pretty cool bowl aswell. I'd definately spend 70 bucks on that set up.

Here ya go Roor. I'm a sucker for nice chillums/oners, really the only dry pieces I buy these days. Unfortunately the bowl-push on this one is broken at the moment, gettin her fixed up soon. Got another one by claw that's sandblasted, might throw some pics up later. Hope these pics work...

That looks nice for 70bux. Especially if thats a diffuser...only thing I would say is that the downstem could be longer, closer to the bottom of the water chamber. Looks about 5mm glass? :rasta:

42 Degrees:

(734) 665-9600
613 E William St, Ann Arbor, MI 48104

Been meaning to make up there for awhile now. Would be a long drive for me (5 hr?), but I hear their heady selection is great, though some say a bit overpriced. I'd go there with a good amount of money to spend and get ready to bargain.
