Poll shows Cali voters favor legalization

The "dark ages" of prohibition will end in CA soon.

A new poll shows California voters generally favor legalization of marijuana.

The Los Angeles Times-University of Southern California poll shows 49 percent support a November ballot measure that would allow the growing and consumption of pot, but only a third of them say they "somewhat" favor the measure.

Forty-one percent oppose the measure, most of them saying they believe it will worsen social problems.
One in 10 of those surveyed are undecided.

The survey of about 1,500 registered voters was conducted May 19-26 by the Democratic polling firm Greenberg Quinlan Rosner and the Republican firm American Viewpoint. The margin of sampling error was plus or minus 2.6 percentage points.

I read the act and I just can't get behind it. Make it legal like a tomato or leave us alone. It does nothing to change felony amounts or free people from injustice. This initiative was written to cash in not to legalize. More initiatives will follow, better initiatives.

Section 5: Amendment
Pursuant to Article 2, section 10(c) of the California Constitution, this Act may be amended either by a subsequent measure submitted to a vote of the People at a statewide election; or by statute validly passed by the Legislature and signed by the Governor, but only to further the purposes of the Act. Such permitted amendments include but are not limited to:
(a) Amendments to the limitations in section 11300, which limitations are minimum thresholds and the Legislature may adopt less restrictive limitations.

(c) Laws to authorize the production of hemp or non-active cannabis for horticultural and industrial purposes.****BONUS

This is why I can get behind it. This bill may not be the cure all but its a start and I don't feel like waiting till the "time" come round again. Pass this thing and lets fix it while we go. This portion of the bill above does it for me. Believe me. I know this bill is a hunk of junk. But some junk is better than no junk...........

tax commercial production and sale of marijuana to people 21 years old or older.

Key Word Commercial what 30 k for a licsense to grow commercially.. Wonder who will have the money to pay that fee rich corporations maybe.. This could be a domino effect on Cali especially up in the north in mendo etc. no more people to buy things from other stores in smaller towns.. WEED INDEX 2010 High Grade $2800-3600 WEED INDEX 2012 High Grade $2400 WEED INDEX High Grade 2014 700-1700

Looks like I need to move to Northern Cali.. I don't want to live anywhere near SoCal/LA. I need forests and snow.

Great news though! Once Cali paves the way, I believe other states will follow shorty after. I'm guessing Washington State/Oregon.

I fully support legalization and taxation. Let people go buy it.. it won't change our ability to grow it. The US economy needs some extra money anyhow. Same with alcohol.. plenty of people buy beer, but I make my own.

Lets hope this all passes and lets hope that Cali LEO respects the new law. Hopefully they wont pull any ''its still illegal on a federal level'' bullshit.

EDIT

I just read that it would allow for the cultivation of ''hemp or non active cannabis''. That sucks, however.. I believe its a step in the right direction. Plus with basically ''full legalization'' I really doubt people are going to examine the plants and say ''well shit.. this isn't non active cannabis lets book this guy''. It might be a heightened risk, but its better than the current situation. I'll still continue to grow indoors regardless.

So here is what you do.

One person starts several LLC businesses in California for a few hundred dollars. The person purchases a small plot of land in Northern California. 1 acre can be had for a few thousand dollars. This person then sells 25sqft of land from the acre to each of the LLC businesses.

It takes some interesting money handling but a single person could grow an acre's worth of weed easily without prosecution due to loop holes. In this manner they could easily grow 4,300 plants on the property, netting 10 to 20 million dollars upon finishing.

Then they repeat.

So for a few grand up front a person could make millions of dollars in a VERY short amount of time if this passes. Paying taxes and selling the product through the LLC businesses even.

Is it legal... Is it illegal... You'd have to ask my lawyer.

There's no way they're just going to legalize it like vegetables. Vegetables typically can't get you high.

But grapes can get you drunk. They are legal. Lets not over-think this:

The only people who don't want this measure passed are people who have a vested interest in it being illegal for their income(Cops, Correctional officers, rehab industry people, and black market sack slingers). Fuck them. I could give a rats ass what they think, they have pushed their flippin opinion down my throat for years. Their time is over. Our time is now. Don't like it(any of them)? Move to another state. Alabama has plenty of room.

Me? I'm growing my own and am not buying it again. Sorry for those who wont be released by this measure, but we CANT hold up progress for that matter. Those matters will take care of themselves in the future. Future measures will follow that will release these prisoners.

Don't worry. The average person has no idea of the complications of this bill and sees it as weed will be legal. This will pass.

Better this than what we have now. This can always be amended later. First you've got to get those other 41% to see that the sky is NOT falling. Once they see it, regulations will relax even more.
