Hello and welcome to the Poll for Photo of the Month for August 2006. The following finalists have been selected for August. Please take the time to review all photos and place a vote for your favorite, you know, the one that stands out from the rest, the one which displays excellent photography skills and is clearly in focus, displays good choice in background selected, proper lighting...in other words, the subject itself within the photo is not what should be the determining factor, but the presentation/capturing the subject in excellent photographic skills IS.

Well, sorry your pic didn't make it admiral, and even more sorry that you feel slighted. Can you tell me who the distributors are you are referring to, cause I fail to see any breeders who sell seeds to Sboo or Sbay in the poll, well, except Ms.G and actually she isn't a breeder, her husband is, and even if she was a breeder, ALL photos are eligible, except any photo by a member of admin.

I don't usually give explanations as to why someone's pic didn't make the finals...but in your case since you feel slighted I will, just so you know why it was passed over. Maybe the explanation will also help others to understand why pics that they might have thought were good didn't make it either. When it comes to POTM, the finalist photos have been scrutinized for many imperfections...we keep the bar raised quite high. In the middle of your pic there is a long leaf protruding outward which is completely out of focus (dept of field/focus related) which, although the pic as a whole is nice, that out of focus leaf took away from it's overall quality....thus it got passed over this time.

There are no favorites played, it is a very difficult task going through all the nominated photos and narrowing them down, and as I've posted many many times....pics need to be in focus, sharp, clearly defined, to make the cut into the finals...there's been many nice shots to get passed over for being out of focus, you are certainly not alone there.

You obviously have some real nice subjects to photograph, and I'm sure if you keep trying you'll have some awesome pics to share and that we will see make it to a poll thread in the future.
