some years back our drunken neighbors were fighting at 2am in the morning, when we heard glass shatter and someone screaming, "help! help! I'M DYING!!! OMG HEEELP!" we tried to call 911, either it kept ringing forever or we got put on hold i forget, anyways we took the time to look up the closest police department on yahoo, and then called their local number, an ambulance then a police car were dispatched and on their way quickly, the phone that was on 911 was still on hold

so, as public enemy has schooled us long ago, 911 is in fact a joke from my experience, much more effective to call the actual police department's main line

Yeah. I started fucking a girl who was engaged at the time, but didn't tell me until 3 months deep in fuckbuddy status. Turns out I didn't really respect her as a person anyway and was subsequently unmoved; but I wanted to keep fucking her. Way hot.

She eventually told the poor sap fiance that she was moving out into her own place. I helped her move her shit from the saps house, being the classy gent I am. I called the cops to watch over the sap while we moved her stuff. He didn't have much going on in his life, and had nothing beyond the girl. He probably would have killed me had I not called the cops. And if I didn't help her move her shit, I wouldn't have gotten laid that night.

I really had no choice in the matter.

Wait, you mean there are issues that CAN'T be resolved with judicious amounts of flying lead or jugs of gasoline? ;)

You'd be amazed at what people will do to keep you burning their house down with them inside it. The very idea tends to make people straighten up and act right.

I call in drunk drivers all the time. But if I could pull them over and take their keys myself, I would.

I chased a dude at 100mph in my Mustang once, the drunk mofo got home before the cops caught up to us. i was pissed.

I don't know about calling 911, but I have spoken with the cops that roam my neighborhood face to face about "issues" in the area. They also gave me their cell numbers. Now they wave at me every time they see me. If they are stopped doing something I can stop and ask them whats going on and they run their mouth off, because they "know me".

keep your friends close, but your enemies closer.

Have called authorities (not 911) to report over the years:
motorcycle accident
buisness break-in
drunken drivers
animal abuse

Never had any "professional" contact with police due to my conduct until a neighbor reported I was taking "videos" of their children!! For over 25 years, there has been some type of camera set up from 2 windows to take BIRD pictures at feeders. The cameras were there for the 8 years these paranoid oxygen thieves lived there. Local police "community mediator" dropped by and filled me in. The bottom line is what he told them---"It isn't against the law to take pics/videos in PUBLIC PLACES." And he also said he liked all the "nature stuff" around my place.

Even if we don't call 911 or other authorities, there is someone out there who will for their own purposes. Those are the ones that scare me.

Have cornered 2 drunk drivers before after chasing them down (I mean REALLY drunk drivers), even held a guy at gunpoint for the cops that I caught breaking into a house close by. Try not to ever call 911 or the cops unless absolutely necessary but sometimes there are situations in life that do call for it, that's why we pay taxes and that's what they are there for. When I hear people fighting or arguing or other various domestic stuff going on I mind my own fucking business and highly suggest everyone do the same because they usually make the situations way worse, or someone could get popped for growing illegaly and that is a big no no in my book of life. :canabis:

For insurance related purposes where a police report is required in order to file your claim.
Home burglary, car theft, things like that.

Otherwise, hell no.

I called the cops last summer on an old man in a grocery store parking lot who left his dog in the car with the windows up. I would have rather dealt with the guy in person, but after returning to his car, he chose to get in and leave after almost running me over.

We don't call cops .

Nah teemu, except for just a little bit. Any time a humane being is pushed to inflict GBH on another, a little peace of them dies from it though.

Gotta say your wrong sweet tooth lover...if i hear a guy beating on his girl im gonna try n help, i am not worry about if he is growing, fuck him, if people think gettin into a situation makes it worse think about if it was your sister getting her ass beat....when people are not able to stop a wrong themselves, call the cops, simple...i think people are off base on this issue, the main reason i am no in favor of cops is cuzz they enforce a unjust law against me...if you take that away i just have problems with certain people on a personal level....jerks in all walks of life...anyways rant over...peace n puffs

Had a place I was living at broken into and some guns that were registered to me where stolen. I also called when my car was broken into (a police report is necessary for an insurance claim.) Couple situations where I didnt really have a choice...

no us resident, but i take it as 911 = popolice

yes, i would and have done cause i didnt feel like standing up to 10something nazi-skins but still wanted to find a way to end a fight. calling them to yr home is something different. even to a no-grow-site like mine. i just dont want them around, so i hope that only stuff happens that i can handle without the guns-for-brains-club.

take care & hope u all will have a popo-free life!

I called them when someone stole my credit card and started using it. They came over and I had the wife cook up large amounts of eggs, bacon and toast to cover up any tell-tale odors. Much less suspicious than odor cover-up sprayed out of a can!

Allot of people on the fence in this thread, I would call each and every one of ya out one at a time but it wouldn't do any good. I'm glad none of ya are in my buddy list and never will be. Yuk and yuk, I cant remember ever being so disgusted with my peers here on IC. Only thing worse then a cop is a wanna be cop/cop caller/rat (thanks for popping your head up, sometimes its hard to see ya). I understand the insurance bit or saving a life. If your mad at this post its your conscience, has nothing to do with my post. Karma my friends karma, expect the same in return. A law is a law, if your a crime fighter don't be surprised when you encounter the wrong end of another crime fighter. Peace, pot and karma. One Love:ying:

Edit: Wow, just noticed more people voted yes then no! I guess I can fix this thread by putting all the lames on my ignore list! Please do the same if my post offended you.
