Did a cursory search and couldn't find a PNW specific growers' thread here so I thought we could use one for outdoor folks from VanI-Lower Mainland BC down to NoCal. We share a lot of the same issues: grey mould, slugs, weather... There's nothing like outdoors in Cascadia!
Hey man! BACKCOUNTRY here! I was thinking about getting one of these up here as soon as I saw more of the guys here.
I hope SS and deckhand, and the rest find their way.
I've been hard at work building my resivour to feed the automatic watering system I was developing last summer. All I have left to do is fill it and camoflauge it, I'll be back soon to develop the plot(Lime, manure, Kelp meal, etc). The soil there is mostly mineral, and drains very fast(the opposite of what I usuall deal with).
The rez is in a area that is bone dry through the grow season, but this time of the year there is a seasonal creek that flows , I can use several garden hoses to bring water around the hill to fill the rez(200 gallons).
The only downer thing about this year is OG going down, what a bummer, years of research...gone. Oh well, gotta move on I guess! At least we survived!
I was just getting myself into the OG groove when it got shut down. All that information would have been of such great use to me, but alas now I must start as many have before, from scratch and with little growing knowledge. But that is moving away from my point. I am from the pacific northwest myself, an oregonian born and bred. I look forward to getting to know you guys some more, and hopefull I wont prove to be too much a nuisance with my questions! Much luck and karma to you all.
Hello Brothers and Sisters!!! Good to see you got a spot going for us Haxixe, we all have a lot of work to be done this year and like BackCountry all our research from years past is lost. I would rather it all be lost than RC spend one more night in Jail than absolutely necessary.
I fortunately have a good portion of my photo's saved on CD and with all of us working together we can help each other. I did some scouting today, I didn't find anything far enough off the beaten path but I found a few spots to slip off said trail. this trail is not exactly the easiest to navigate but kids have graffiti up there so I know it's used some. I doubt they would be going through the BOG though, the other side of the mucky bog is a Southern faceing hillside.
BackCountry, great work!!!!!! Thanks for posting it, I can't wait to see it up and running. Any of your Strain Guide saved anywhere Bother? Looks like we should back up important things like that, I just took for granted that I could always go back and re read whenever.
Let's get things kicked off with a little about growing in the Pacific North West! First the daylight hours are important for your location, this figure is different for different latitudes. Last year we watched Harvests progress up the Coast, Starting in Central California, on up the Northern California, then Oregon, Washington and BC Canada. Now Daylight hours are at their critical points "Flower Turning Point" Mid May in the Spring and Early August for the Fall. If tempratures are warm enough in Mid March you could put out Cuttings that have been commited to flower to pull in a Spring harvest by Mid May. This is contingent on the weather and how far North you are. During the Winter and Spring the sun is farther away from the Northern Hemesphere and the light is not as efficent as it is farther South.
Times to start from seeds,Cinco De Mayo has worked in the past and plants have lots of time to get big. Later in May for a little more workable size plants. Cuttings should go out around the middle of May so they are not stalled by the short days, anything after the 14th this year should progress from the beginning. When the plants are confused is slows them down and they will stall for a couple of weeks they could be progressing.
OK Well I'm Stoned and should quit typing for now. It's nice to see some of us from OG here, I feal a peice of my past is missing in limbo. STAY SAFE EVERYONE AND OVERGROW THE GOVERNMENT!
Hey SS, good to see you stumbled in. This is really your thread, I was just holding your place 'til you found us. Hope you find some great locations in your new home base, I'll be reusing my spots from last year, they pretty much rocked. The new twist for '06 will be in situ starts outdoors ala Green Shaman and some new genetics from RM hopefully- Ive still got some JW and Legends beans but I really wanted to get some RM Purple Pineberry to try but I think I waited too long and they look to be out of stock all around.. First pics and reports should begin by late May. Let's keep it growin'!!!
Haxixe, Mine? No way! OURS! Without everyone through the years there would be no PNW Crew. But I am glad there is, I have missed everyone very much, you have all become family to me.
ALRIGHT A P.N.W. SPECIFIC THREAD, GONNA RUN SOME R.M ROMULAN, AND BIG THUNDER, OUT DOORS THIS YEAR. TIRED OF PLAYING INDOORS. ANYBODY SPENT TIME GROWING B-52? REAL EARLY FINISHER INDOORS?
Many more familiar faces....
Good to see so many OG refugees joining in one place.... Never thought i would find you guys but i did.. It's going to be a great year aside from OG going down.... Such a shame.... Well now that there's a PNW thread believe me I will be popping in more often than not....
I've been jonsing for some posting... I'll have some pics of my moms and my babies in the next couple of days....
Tag.... I'm here for awhile...
Hlgrg, have you grown outdoors before? There's nothing like playing in the sun! And it looks like it's going to be a good Spring this year, we have La Nina~ on our side . Now I know the early Bulbs have started to sprout in January instead of the usual February and today while out I saw a Pink Rhodie blooming. I'll try to go take a picture tomorrow it really threw me off. According to the Farmers Almanac though it's going to be a little wetter this September and October than average. It say's slightly above average precipitation but that's what it said for January and look what happened there.
Damn BACKCOUNTRY, looks like you really did accomplished quite a bit out in them woods, better have for missing my super bowl bash, haha. I'll have to go on a venture with you one day and check it out. THERE'S WEED IN THEM THERE HILLS!
Well... well... look what the cat drug in! Nice to see ya SPACEMAN!
I'd personally rather grow superBOWLS, than watch it on TV, LOL!
But seriously 3town, I had to may hay while the sun shines, next weekend might be rainin'. I'll come next year, and we'll have home brew, and a shelf with jars full of weed. Which strain fits tonights mood, heheh.
OK I am stoned and past my bed time......
Yeah, I was wishing I was smoking superBOWLS, but had a house full of straights. haha. Yes my friend, the dayeth shall be uponeth thee(s) t'where we shall hath marijuana in abondance and we shall smoketh until were stupideth. haha, damn dude Im stoned. Its 9:34 and just got back from a roady, back to bed my friends! Hey SpaceMan, have you checked out our recent pics from the closet grow? There are some niceys!
Im not sure if its of much consequence, but I have been backing up the Overgrow FAQ files from google. Google has every linked page cached in its servers, the only thing it doesnt have is pictures. Ive been making my way down the list of FAQs, so far its been very productive. I would imagine one could do the same thing with the strain guide, I just havnt made it far enough to try that yet. Even the forums themselves are cached as well, so if one wanted backups of certain threads, if one was so inclined, they could find it through google. I was thinking that with all this info being backed up, we might, just might, be able to throw up a mirror of OG, but that much is more of a passing thought than anything. Someone has mentioned that they have pics backed up, so maybe with concorted effort it would be possible? The important thing, at least in my mind, is that the knowledge and time tested information on OG be recovered.
Just thought I would throw this out to you guys, if anyone is interested I could go into further detail on the specifics as to where and how to get the various pages from OG. Thank the ganja gods for google, eh?
Glad I found this thread...was just coming online to research some good outdoor strains for this area. Will be my first outdoor grow this year(complementing my first indoor grow, which is already underway!)and I have a lovely garden plot to use in a safe location. Will be starting from seed and hope to get 4-6 females to put into the ground. The cannabis plants will grow right alongside other garden delights, such as corn, cukes.tomatoes etc.Hope for a delightful harvest!
I have been looking at these Canadian bred strains(all supposedly good for outdoors) that Kind Seed stocks:
Grapeskunk
Brainwarp
Northern Flame
Purple Pineberry
Early Bramble
Fast Girl
Lethal Purple
Madame Poison
Anyone have any experience with these?Or can anyone suggest a strain I should look at?
