Please remove all EXIF data

Just wanted to add this. Firefox now has a addon that shows you the exif data of a pic just by right clicking on it. A must for the Icamagger with firefox.

OldPink means well but drops the ball here. Uploading pictures uploads EXIF.

FWIW, cropping an image is another way to remove EXIF.

.........update.............
I was WRONG about cropping. Cropping will NOT remove EXIF data.

FastStone is an excellent image viewer/editor and it also has one-click data stripping.

IMO, its important to make LEO's job harder not just to protect your own ass, but also to make them spend all their time/budgets chasing bullshit leads.

No its not....I installed a Firefox plugin and started checking out some various pics here. Most of the pics I looked at had info attached...some even had serial numbers. One that said "Owner Name=" but it was blank.

I think Icmag needs to invest into a EXIF stripper and have it go through all pics stored on this server.

My investigation using jhead on a random selection of 5 pictures I snagged indicates the same thing - Photos here are definitely *not* stripped of all of their EXIF data.

Maybe I have no clue what I'm talking about, but since I found out about pictures storing camera info (a few months back probably), I pretty much instantly thought of a way that should counteract this.

Take the picture, upload it to your computer. Then open/view the picture in full screen. Take a screen shot (using the prnt scrn button), paste the picture into Paint, then save.

I don't know anything about pictures or cameras really, but this seems like it could be an easy and effective way to get around this dilemma.

Yes but way too much work.

Jstrip strips all EXIF info with one click. You strip everything in the folder so it takes seconds to strip 10,20 or 50 pictures

How to remove exif in photopost and vbulletin:

ACP --> vBa Gallery --> Modify Settings --> Show Exif Information

It can be turned off for everybody.

My understanding is that this only disables the display of exif data in the galleries - It does nothing to actually strip it from the images themselves.

I use THIS

Not only does it remove the EXIF info, it also can add a watermark/logo of your your choice, and it reduces the byte size in 3 popular web sizes. (which saves bandwidth/cost for site owners) Nifty. It is shareware, but in over a year now I havent as so much even seen a nag screen.

IrfanView

IrfanView

irfanview.com been using this proggie for atleast 10 years.

very simple. Click 'file', then 'save as', then check the 'show options' dialog. I leave all the options unchecked except for 'reset EXIF orientation tag' then click 'save' (as a jpg).

You can also reduce the number of colors from millions to hundreds easily without losing noticable quality which in turn reduces file size.

gosh!
I've not been safe at all on here. I am not that good at all this computer stuff to begin with and it was a feat for me just to post. But now can I go back an do any of the suggestions on this thread to pics that i have posted already

Yup, did it after reading this. Funny how this very technologically aware individual did not think to do this initially but then again i do not take too many pics of anything.

Thanks nonetheless for the advice

Anyone know how to wipe the info off an iPhone camera pic?

Shouldn't we have a sticky about posting photos?

If you use photoshop to crop/edit your images before upload, you can save yourself some hassle by doing a "Save for web/devices" as this will strip all EXIF info from the image (presumably to shrink the file size that little bit further.)
