I agree it's important for peopol to find info on landrace ... Mi for exemple i all time heard that dutch strains are the best , and hybride superieur ...
And this years i try both local landrace sativa and some dutch bean .And i looking the different from the hight and the stong of the plant , maybe landraces are no big yelder and no super taste (like strawberry ... ) but they are very differente and no "commercial" .
Landraces are not "fashion" like many dutch strain .
So yes i vote for a landrace sub-forum .

I loved it on OG when multilingual people would get growers from the foreign forums to post their local strains. I remember that's when wallyduck and his webbed indica took off. Same for the molokai frost, that south african strain, and all of the brazilian pure sativas. And my good ol buddy Oaxacangrower was over at OG doing experiments with different oaxacan local strains amongst other mexican landraces.

although gypsy sells some landrace strains it would really nice to see the bay & boo sell (world of seeds) & (the real seed co) etc too....so i can buy 1 of everything lol one thing thats wonderful about landrace is you can discover & experience a small part of culture from other countries & bring it into your home without going there this especially helps those who are too ill or cant afford to travel the world & discover it in person.

I guess if you were to really think about it, if you go back far enough, there is an Adam and Eve of all Cannabis.

there was a thread about that a couple of years ago discussing exactly that hypothesis... anyone remembers the title? it was pretty interesting.

btw, my vote is for: yes.

peace

Just sayin, didnt they invent the wheel already? The majority of the landraces left are fiber type, any drug type landrace patches are few and far between and have been so muddled by time and man to be hardly worth it,imo.Ya know, why reinvent the wheel?Name one landrace that could stand out over a well done sour diesel plant?
My buddy went to jamaica last year, was taken into the hills to a remote mj farm, said it was beautiful, what is it...............Subcools gear mon, dats dannyboy and space queen!!!!Ya really think the worlds that big anymore!!:)

I think I would much rather see and smoke some nice Jamaican, as I would some subtool hermies.

Some folks find there is more to ganja than what others find.
I think some should stick to buying little bags of early green nugs that have had nifty little names put on them for the pleasure of the easily amused.

Kauai Electric, Puna Budda, Molokai Frost, Oaxacan Sativa(lima limon), Santa Marta Colombian, Malawi, Ethiopian, Swazi, Brazilian sativas, Sinaloan, Michoacan, Veracruz, Merida/Yucatan, Deep Chunk, X18, Highland Thai, Kashmiri, Nepalese, Cambodian, New Guinea, Austrailian Sativas, Austrailian Ducksfoot, South Indian Sativas, Af-Pak strains, Uzbecki,...I could keep going on but you'll probably tell me I'm wrong even when you haven't tried 10% of the strains I have listed.

Cool... thanks everyone (or almost !) for supporting the idea, I just hope gypsy & the mods will agree & follow the move !

Why bother? Since SB doesn't sell many, the threads will just be deleted. (This time) I'm not complaining, just saying.

Valid point love, seems like there's no place on this site for anything seedbo doesn't sell.

life is not all about business ya know ? I mean, recently was opened a sub-forum about religion & spirituality, I wonder how many bucks a months gypsy makes out of it ? most probably none, so this not a valid point to me.

For what? There was a reason early man moved away from landraces ........they sucked!Fulla problems and all hermi prone, but if thats what ya like I guess

Thanks for making my point Rojo, you obviously don't know anything about landraces and thus are the living proof that more education about them is needed !
let's start here. I suppose you know about strains like Tom Hill's Deep Chunk or X-18, there's also ACE's Yunnan, Guatemala, Pakistan Chitral, for you information all these are worked and selected landraces. All of RSC's gear is landrace. Maybe you think that all these strains suck ? You're probaly the only one...

Yes, the world is still big indeed, get out of your closet and see by yourself ! Jamaica is the worst example you could give, the local genepool having been mostly destroyed thanks to idiots who think that the WASP hybrids they grow are better than the local skimpy sativas traditionnaly grown by the "backward" dark-skinned countrymen.

one thing thats wonderful about landrace is you can discover & experience a small part of culture from other countries & bring it into your home without going there this especially helps those who are too ill or cant afford to travel the world & discover it in person.

You are so right icon ! landraces have a lot of things to tell us, they are indeed like a stargate to where they come from. A local strain which have been bred & selected for generations has a lot to tell about where it comes from, but what an hybrid that have been created in a closed room under HID lamps has to tell us ?

On my very very first grow, I had some orange bud, NL and also Durban Poison and Thai. The two landraces were the most fascinating ones to me. THey came from so far away, it was like growing a little bit of the country they came from, I was curious to see how they looked, how the end product would differ from the buds i bought and found the seeds in, how different would they be from the commercial hybrids. It produced a whole lot of emotions and questionning which the hybrids didn't do. Well, being my first grow the hybrids were exciting to grow too, but the landraces had it much stronger, more passionate.

Thanks again everyone for supporting the idea, keep voting yes and please Gypsy, vote yes too !

Irie !

Ultimate sativa thread is getting clogged and unwieldy... We need a place to break out into subforums for each individual continents and go from there. Just a thought...

What happens when I've completed 50 posts? We shall see
