PLEASE HELP WITH WIRING A 100WATT HPS

br26 is right, you shouldn't be guessing at these things, even a 100 watt HPS is powerful enough to do some serious injury.

For wires that are going to the bulb, black (common) goes to the outside of the bulb.

If you are able to get a pic of the parts and especially the schematic on the transformer (and any other wire diagrams available on other parts) an dpost them we could help much more. From what I remember, smaller HPS's don't need a capacitor(?). I'm not certain though
I would tear mine down and snap some pics of how I built it, but it is also in use at the moment, and I'm not sure the wiring of a 1kW lamp would really help out.

You should be able to find a wiring diagram through google, search for "HPS schematic ballast" or something similar.

Can you call the manufacturer? I had to call the manufacturer for my ballast to confirm the wiring to go from 120v to 240v. Tech guy picked up, answered the questions and not one UMM,UMM,UMM; I plugged'er up and there was light. Badda boom badda bing. Be careful bro, electricity is nothing to geuss with. Try to call the manufacturer, they don't ask what yer growing, they just want you off the line. Go get yourself some cord with 3 different colored wires too so's you know which is common and which is hot. Be careful!

dude, what are you doing gettin high, and then wirin this stuff up? have a clear mind for the technical aspect of the hobby.

are you sure you wired the cap and everything else correctly?

can you read the diagrams?

thanks nightfire and buds id have to say this is very annoying having the hps sit here and not work. Im in a ruff position having a hps that no one else really has,i also cant find a diagram for a capless ballast. I havent visted this thread in a while because no one came back for a while so i ended up using 2 42watt cfls for now. well if anyone is reading this and would like to try and help me. Id apreciate it, I have pics of the setup, there not that good but i have them. thanks in advanced

alright so i DO need to get a cap, for a while everyone was telling me that it was built in, but i was unshure. I guess I will order one today. Im preety shure I can wire myself once I get it in. Im not a fucking idiot, Ive dont motor swaps a custom turbo applications for import cars, and have done my fair share of wireing. However, like i said this whole cap thing was the problem.

Any luck with this without the cap? - sent an email to 1000 bulbs to see if they could provide a diagram with and without the cap. Will let you know if I hear anything.
