plants are getting rusty spots

alot of my plants are getting these rusty circles or rusty colored spots on the lower leaves and eventually come to the top to the newer growth. plants look over-all healthy but these spots show up. Never fed them yet they are only 2.5 weeks old. Might just be something in my tap water giving them these spots? Who knows im not too concerned really but they are getting worse. The temps are at 80 degrees, lights on 24-0. Maybe too hot? 1000 watt hps 3 feet away but its all i got at the moment.

Just wanted to mention too that there is actually some fertilizer in them due to the fact that I bought miracle grow perlite and those losers add miracle grow to there perlite as well. Not sure what the ratio was but it was very little like .1 .1 .5 or something like that.

I'd say your pH is slightly off preventing some nutrients from being freely available

and it's about time to add organic ferts in the form of a pH balanced organic tea..or a combination of several bottled "organic" ferts....at low strength then read them from there after about 4 or 5 days

and/or you could transplant now into a 3 times larger pot containing a good quality potting soil enriched with small amounts of a wide variety of organic nutrients..rusty plants alway benefit from going into fresh soil

keep in mind that ....lots of growers grow healthy plants with just about all of the potting soils out there, so don't blame Miracle soil ...I'd say your gardening methods need improving!

make sure the solution you are watering in each time is low to mid sixes on the pH scale..you can use Whole Range 0-14 pH test paper, it's cheap and plenty accurate enough for soil gardeners

make sure you water when the pots have lost some weight when you lift them up, after the top inch or two is dry and a day before the leaves droop from dehydration is ideal with most potting soils....mostly peat soils need to be kept moister or they can dry out and dont be able to re-moisten causeing dry spots ( a drop of dishwashing liquid for gallon once a month should prevent this happening ..many ferts contain a soil wetting agent to prevent dry spot and complete satuation

stop using tap water and use rain water...nothing better than rain water....tap water contains lots of crap your plant don't need

No, up to high 80's F is fine..but that's of course with adequate air movement among the plant with fresh air and waterings when required

the watering with the correct pH levels at the ideal time is where it's at with soil pot growing...master that and you'll grow lush green plants...

^^ yup I'll go with that. Looks (well, pics aren't great so 'spose it's a "sounds like" :biglaugh: ) like a ph problem. I get that too sometimes. :badday:

I get that too sometimes.

so do I ...lol

..but not that often

anyway Robbanks...keep us informed...new growth should be greener after correcting the Ph and adding nutes at low strength (at first)

Yea, depends on the strain with me. Rez's SD is really sensitive and looks like shit in my cab (yields real well though and still has insane resin production, just dosn't like pretty :chin: ) whilst other strains fly all the way through flower without a single problem.

Chamba, edit your signature and put a [ in front of what you have there.

all strains grow great if you provide what they need when they need it

I'm no pro, but for quick results you might want to mist your leaves with a ph balanced light nutrient solution.

Thanks for all the help guys. Sorry it took awhile to get back to yous. For awhile there they werent growing that good either. Ran around for the past day gathering up date which is hard to find this time of year for some good quality stuff. Had to travel 100 miles just to find something decent. lol I gave them a light feeding last night and misted them with a light solution of nutes with a little epsom salts added. They really like the nutes because they grew a ton in the past day after it. The color looks alot greener and overall look ALOT healthier. Just wanted to thank you guys again for the help. Until next time!
