Dead string but, regardless, these are "Virgin's Tears": excess oil produced by the plant in an attempt to pollinate by becoming stickier and thus better able to "grab" pollen passing by on the wind.
"virgin's tears" used to be collected by having fellows, dressed in velvet, to walk through the fields. The tears woould collect on their suits by virtue of them brushing against the unpollinated marijuana plants. The oily goo would then be scraped from the velvet suits using a large metal scraper and placed in barrels at each end of the fields. The fellows would then proceed back through the field, continuing this process until unable, due to intoxication; another fellow would the take his place.
My Dad watched them do this in Turkiye when he was stationed there by the British Navy in the fifties.
