PL-L type lamps, got too much choice..which to get?

building a little fun cab, just 2sqft for an experimental PL-L grow. The shape of my box means its most efficient to fit 2 55w L type fluoros.

What's the best colour combination for flowering (plantlets), with two lamps, one ballast?

I can get Philips PL-L 55w 830 warm white (3000k)(CRI 85%)
Osram Dulux L 55w 827 very warm white (2700k)(CRI 85%) and a similar Sylvania Lynx tube
Osram Dulux L 55w 930 warm white 3000k (CRI 90%) which is "slightly less lumen output"
Does it really make that much of a difference to put in an extra 6500k tube? are there any other combinations of K's i can get to be optimum with 2 lamps? i can get 4000k, 6400/6500k in 24, 36, 40, 55w.. philips no 40s of any kind

Probably run a Philips HFII 2x55w ECG, they're cheap and should be reliable and efficient, making a good alu reflector which i'm probably going to flat off and paint with that ultra reflective paint, got a big sheet of 1.2mm alu which i can anneal and work.. got other ideas for making the reflector diffuse in the middle but focus on the edges like a HPS batwing does.. but i need to know what lamps are going to be best.. strains will be initially bluesxblueberry, black widow, and eventually others

cheers folks :fsu:

Hi mate i really dont know what is best, but i have 827 very warm. As far as the bulb manufacturer goes, well using the 36W ones, ive noticed some have a slightly different U bend shape, and differ in length by maybe 15mm but i really dont think there is any other difference. Get what brand you can get i reckon.

I got 827 because knna wrote they were the best for flowering (if i remember correctly). Ive got some cool white also that i planned to use in veg but turns out i am far too lazy to change bulbs so i just stuck with 827. good luck, and post pictures!

I am building a large cab - 50% done - that will run 440 watts of pl-l - I bought 6 of the 3000's, and 2 of the 6500's. I would have bought 2700's if they were cheap enough. I could get them, but could not find a US shipper, and shipping was outrageous, so I compromised.

Hey guys,

do a search for "highpod" or "High Pod"... The guy used pll cfls and they were all 4100K... He did well with those...

I can get 2700k L type lamps but they're Osram dulux L or GE Biax L or Sylvania lynx L.

in fact in the 55w size i can't get the GE's either, but the osrams are the same price as the philips and the Sylvania are cheaper.. but everyone seems to think the Philips PL-L are the best, and in 55w i can only get Philips 3000K, down at the warm white end of the range.

So i've set up a preliminary order of 2x55w Philips PL-L 3000k, a philips ballast for them, 2g11s, couple of pll clips, and a 36w 6500k PL-L + ballast for a tiny lil bonsai mum/clone cab
