I have been lurking around this site for about 3 years now but never bothered to register or post...this is the first I have seen your thread, and I could not stop reading through the entire thing.

excellent job all around....I will be using some of your advice (along with some other peoples gems) to improve my own grow. And I dont know who says SFV OGkush is a low yielder either, I consistently get 6-8 out of my plants on a 30 day veg......

but again, great work, great looking plants, great information, just great all around :groupwave:

Hey CC,

How would a seed run for production differ from the above? Lets just say its indica seeds as well. Their roots would go deeper rather than wider right?... What size containers would you put them in and for how long?

It wouldn't differ much at all... I usually top seed plants at the 4th or 5th node, pretty much like I do any plant. Then the rest of the run is treated like any other, as well. As far as deeper rather than wider roots, I don't know because I always get roots to colonize the entire container, so it really doesn't matter in which direction the roots want to grow, they are growing where I want them to. :) As for what size containers and for how long... I use beer cups until the roots are completely colonizing the medium, then they go into their final 4 gallon pots, where they will continue to vegetate for up to three weeks... then to flower. I like to see the available medium almost completely colonized by roots before setting them to flower... especially with the more indicated dominant varieties. Pure sativas can go to flower with less colonized soil because the roots continue growing even in flower.

I get excited to try new things and the silica has been on my todo list for a while. Although from what I'm gathering CC you're saying applying during the last couple weeks prior to flush is most beneficial. Unfortunately in the summer main issues are heat and ventilation I feel it stresses them a lot on the few days I do end up going away and aren't around to immediately adjust the temps.

Anywho I dosed them with pro-tek in addition to my 6/9 formula at day 10 of flower. I did this as a prophylactic to any possible not so perfect conditions that may arise for what ever reason. Is it crucial to hold off again until the end? And before you say do whatever works for you, I ask you because you seem to have much more experience in this area than others I could ask. Most use silicas as I did or so I thought as a prophylactic, but what are the pros and cons of using it in the beginning and end as aposed to just the end before flush? I know you said too much was a bad thing, but I was under the impression you were adding to every watering. I'm very interested, when you get some time to respond CrazyC it'd be appreciated. Hope all's well with you and your ladies CC.
Until then...unknown.

Crucial to hold off til the end??? No, I wouldn't go that far. Since I used silica (1st time ever) on two seperate crops of OG Kush that were just days from harvest, and the benefits of silica were still present, even at this late stage, it told me silica will work even at the last minute. I then used silica for an entire flower cycle, the results were not as favorable, the herb burned well, but the smoke was hotter than it should have been. After this experience, I adjusted the silica again, this time using it a few times in veg (for strength and stress protection) but then not using it again until the end of bloom... this worked much better, producing the burn I was looking for.

Good news keeps on rolling in about people using this silica technique! Experienced growers have been trying it and reporting back that their product is finally up to par with their expectations. I am so happy to see so many growers loving their weed like never before. :) As far as I am concerned, this silica thing is a revolutionary change in indoor cannabis growing, not for the stress prevention properties of silica, but because it improves the quality by a factor of 2... if not overused. Not to mention the fact that silica increases yields. ;-)

Hey CC, so im still alittle uncertain.

Do you use the PBP Bloom 2.5-2-5 or the soil bloom 1-4-5 ?
thx

1-4-5 :)

Went and bought some mineral magic after reading your thread, although it had already been bouncing around my dome since I read the re-mineralization thread in the organics forum.

Hey CC, I started using your regime, I don't have any liquid karma tho. Every 3rd feed I am using 30mL of 'liquid budswel' only which is has sea bird and bat guano, earth worm castings, and sea weed extract and has a ratio of (0.01-0.10-0.01). I use 3drops of superthive with every feed day. I have completed a grow with this regime. I am absolutely in love with the results and ease of use and would like to say thank you, thank you, thank you.

What I have been noticing tho, in my garden, is a slight what I think to be an iron and magnesium deficiency around week 3-4 for some of my hungrier strains. I just started adding botanicare's sweet raw from the start of bud building until mid swellage and the top fan leaf yellowing disappears.

My questions are do you notice any deficiencies in any of your gardens at all that you have not already covered? And what have you not tried yet that you were thinking of trying that would bring you closer to your perfect bud?

A plant getting, let's say 5 units of light will need X amount of fertilizer, whereas the same plant getting 10 units of light will need more fertilizer to maintain proper nutrition.

For example, a room with adequate light may need an average feed strength of 1000ppm, but add another 2000 watts to the same space and the plants can handle more, perhaps 1500-1800ppm. So, I'd suggest increasing the ppms. Also, I don't know whether or not you are using Liquid Karma in your regimen, but I am now using it myself. It sort of fills in any blanks in the nutrient profile that using just the Bloom or Grow leave open.

My current regimen employs Botanicare's Grow, Bloom and Liquid Karma. The only other nutrient source I use is Budswell bat guano tea. I only use the tea during the last 2/3 of flower, to help aid terpine production, and it works very well to that end.

You asked what I have not tried that I'd like to... well, I am sort of in a really comfortable place right now as far as technique, so I don't really have anything I'm thinking of changing... but knowing me... it won't be long before I try something new! :)

Well thank you for the kind words, it has been my pleasure to share and learn and share and learn over the years! :) This is the first I am hearing of these ceramic MH bulbs... I will check it out. I have been busier than ever lately... and I don't see an end in sight... we recently had our third (and final... I promise!!!) child. :) So now I have a newborn baby boy, a 5 year old princess, and a 9 year old viking boy! Haven't been paying much attention to advances in indoor gardening tech lately. :)

This bud's for you. :) It is a nice selection from some Chemdog D X Sour Diesel. It sports a heady smell, relaxing and reflective high, and top-tier yields. I love how the inner calyxes are yellower than the outside of the bud. The Sour Diesel genetics really show themselves in the big, bulbous calyxes, too... Love it. Preferring it over OG Kush at the moment, but that might just be due to the fact that I have been smoking OG Kush for such a long, uninterrupted time now. :)

Congrats on the new child! I've got four in their teens, so I'm done having kids now, but I sure do miss the good parts of having a baby. They're so cute at that age! I guess they have to be cute, it's a survival mechanism to make up for the loss of sleep, lol.
