Physical allergy to cannabis

My wife is extremely sensitive.

Originally it was only 1 strain (durban poison) that affected her, but over the years it has grown to other scents.

Can't buy her roses anymore as she gets a similar reaction now as she does to cannabis....

Funny you mention Durban Poison...I had my first and only true panic attack experience where I legitimately thought I was dying puffing on a cross of Arcata TW x Durban. Felt my throat closing, chest tightening, sweating bullets, trouble breathing, blurry vision, numb arm...thought I was having a stroke or heart attack. This was after I had just got done working with my plants in the other room so I had a weird combination of extreme paranoia from the pot with the effects I was already experiencing from touching the plants and when they combined I was freaking the fuck out.

I'm not sure if it was the Durban or the ATW but I have more experience with the latter than the former and it's always been pretty racy, but never panic attack inducing like that. Either way, I've noticed I can smoke less and less nowadays without a real good chance of an anxiety attack. Never had an issue in my life with that sort of thing until that panic attack experience but ever since then I think I have this underlying anxiety that it could happen again so I can never really comfortably smoke anything anymore. I can get away with a really strong indica but anything other than that is totally a crapshoot. Really sucks because I have always loved sativas, especially the ultra racy long-flowering varieties, but I'm all but precluded from smoking them now.

My wife doesn't smoke, so no paranoia she just gets itchy eyes, hives, and migraines.....

Even if I can't smell anything on my hands but accidentally just brushed a plant....she knows...

And I have even tested it out....delibertly seeing how little i could get on myself before she would notice......I will say the amount is so miniscule I just change my clothes and jump straight into the shower after gardening

I have heard of similar but that was years ago

he was last seen growing his first batch of 'gold top' magic mushrooms

of which he claims is a smoother stone, in a reduced volume

I break out in pretty severe hives even when touching a plant in veg.

I never used to have problems with this but now I do and it definitely gets worse with time. I feel like I can just look at those bastards sometimes and my forearms will start breaking out in hives.

Living plants tend to cause the worst issues, but often even the dried flowers themselves will cause me to have a sneezing fit.

A jar of buds won't do anything to me but plants have been known to drive me into sneezing attacks. Sometimes I think I can attribute it to the Coco if I'm up-potting or moving a bunch of shit around but sometimes it's nothing but plant exposure.

I have noticed this issue for years but it has seemingly become more of a problem as the years go by, although I can't necessarily quantify that in any meaningful way.

Same. I wonder if it would be as bad if I wasn't smoking so much? Sometimes I think my body is just saying "Seriously? We're already at saturation. Enough already - you don't need to rub it on your skin, too."

Needless to say, I do a lot of plant maintenance in long sleeves.

Same here, I wear long sleeves and gloves with rubber bands around the wrists when I'm doing a considerable amount of work. Even then I have really itchy eyes and welts forming all over any exposed skin. I'm seriously considering buying a few of those disposable vinyl "haz mat" suits for harvest time. I hardly smoke anymore, maybe a bowl a night when I'm feeding the plants, and haven't noticed a difference in reaction when I am heavily smoking versus rarely like I do now.

Interestingly, my gf (who is a non-smoker) has the same itchy rash form if I touch her after working with the plants -- even after a thorough isopropyl wash to get the bulk of the resin off, and even if I touch her through her clothes. My routine after working on the plants is to basically quarantine my clothes for a separate "weed clothes only" run through the washer, immediately douse every exposed area with isopropyl alcohol and scrub down to get the resin off of my skin, and then a hot shower.

Ive noticed, that I get nettles from some strains, especially from Northern Lights. Since it´s an Afghani Strain, your thought might go into the right direction. Have you been diagnosed with Asthma? I recently was diagnosed with Asthma and several allergies to Pollen and Fungus. You should get yourself an Asthma Inhalator to deal with an Asthma attack! Your panic attack might been triggered or intensified by the feeling to smother during the Asthma attack. Yet, Durban is also known to freak some people out. I know some guy, who hasn´t touched a bud for a looong time since his last bad trip on Durban...

Has somebody tried using BHO/shatter instead of smoking bud? Without the plant matter, it might cause less irritation and allergic reaction...

Stay healthy guys!

Peace

Nope, no asthma I'm aware of and I don't even have any allergies, although I've noticed some sensitivities to pollen in the area where I live lately that I never noticed before.

I have noticed that I don't have the same reaction with concentrates, but I don't smoke often enough anymore to even be able to use them without getting uncomfortably high.

About 20 years ago I thought was allergic to bright lights.

But then somebody told me it's probably not good to have
a 430 watts Son Agro HPS like 4 feet from your bed.

Try sleeping with that when the timer clicks on at 7 AM.

A roommate of mine used to laugh when the light came on.
He described it like the sun always rose in my bedroom before
it rose outdoors.

I don't do this anymore.
