Phresh Filter 4" x 8" 150 CFM carbon filter Questions

Hey all

I'm going to be purchasing this carbon filter here:
http://www.midwesthydroponics.com/browse-products/ventilation-odor-control/carbon-filters/dragon-filter-4-x-12-200-cfm.html
and I have a few questions. First, this is rated at 150 CFM. I understand that's the max CFM it can support while still being effective. I'm going to using a ~140 CFM inline fan which I assume will be adequate, am I right?

Also, do they come preloaded with carbon or do I need to spend the $40 or so dollars for a bag of the stuff?

Thanks,

- Hella

That's the filter I have in my DR80 which air gets sucked through there, through light/reflector and exhausted by S&P 125 on low (149cfm).
It's a good filter - light in weight - good carbon inside

Hey growMEDS, think that filter would work well with a ~139 CFM fan? There will be almost no resistance blowing into the filter.

You should be fine. The 150 is a max rating. A larger fan will decrease filter life or, if too strong, overpower it from the beginning. Too small a fan will decrease airflow and cooling and possibly stress the fan. Because your fan nearly matches the specs while coming in low, it should be the baby bear model; Just right for you.
