Hey Dubi. Sorry I didn't get to complete my grow. I had some legal issues I am just now coming out of and I had to shut down my grows. I would be happy to share some of the last photos I got before the shut down.

Sorry to hear it llamabox,

Have you got the chance to reproduce them in past grows? Good luck for your next grows!

No I did not. That was my first run with them. I believe it was from Peter's 4th run so it would have been round 5. I did get to send some pollen to a friend who made a Durban X Kalinga.

hi dubi,

Nice kalinga you got there!

Im wondering if you tried growing those kalinga indoors? I mean did it minimize hermi traits? they say as long as you dont stress canna's you will have a good chance on having a female, since all canna has the tendency to go either (sex) way..

I am also starting to grow cebu/mindanao strains..
I'm sensing a lot of males and hermi's!?

oh what's the female to male and hermi ratio?

by the way when or how long till I be able to identify their sex?

thanks dubi!

hey dubi, great thread! I've seen pictures of a PI strain that was simply called Manila. It looked like something out of Jurassic Park-
huge leaves with crazy serration. Does that sound like kalinga?
Thx for any info you may have! Cheers!

dubi, just dropping by to say hello and wish you all the best in your current breeding projects! hope you've had success with the PI breeding one way or another! mabuhay!

Is anyone still working with these Kalingas genetics?

I have a stash of the p3 Kalingas, and a bunch of crosses that were done at the same time. Can't wait to grow them out and see what pops up in the crosses!

I haven't grown out any more and I lost all my pure seeds. I do have some Kalinga x Durban a friend on another forum ran for me.

Well Llama I am definitely doing an open pollination with these pure ones when I manage to get to them. However that might not be for over a year. If you have the space and desire to do them sooner, let me know, I will see that they come back your way.

I have a P2 gen male going but I have not used him yet. I had three different females going earlier in the year but they showed some intersexual traits. I have a good stash of these P2 seeds so I will hopefully get to them to find a good keeper to reproduce with sooner or later. ( I wanted to go outdoors with them this year but it was not possible , maybe next season) Gracias Dubi !! :thank you:

Should be good crosses eurasian. The die hessen is a very spicy, easy to clone plant and should cross well with a heavy sativa. The bubblegum would help speed up the flowering and smooth out the harshness of the landrace.

hazelover! still around the islands, huh? i was there last summer and the smoke was horrific. people blamed it on the typhoon and the elections. all i know is that all the herb i saw was so schwaggy that i couldn't even make a proper bubble hash pull from a kilo. went to sagada and got some decent hash, but no luck on herb.

my friend mentioned meeting you awhile back at the barrio fiesta and your work with fine rare woods. how's your work with violetta going?

I miss Her , O Violetta... come back soon!

I miss Her , O Violetta... come back soon!

Just figured I would throw in all my pics of this variety, I tried to ge the old breeder and seed seller to contact me but there was no way to get these seeds form that person again, they must've vanished...

This plant gave me the oddest type high I have ever experiened.
I almost could not even notice any effects from the high except for an unusual happiness that could've squashed any feelings melancholy or manic it just had a way of creating a humble state of mind, and never did it turn into an unstable or psychadelic or unappealing feeling.
It would've made a great breeding strain, However there was really only two phenotypes that possesed such traits, the others were really best described as schwag, but I miss her and I loved her, let's bring her back somehow shall we !?!
If ever given the opportunity, I whole heartedly would!

I had got the seeds from a guy calling himself Red?? I think my memory serves as a hint not an answer, I have asked Red from these forums about it, but he did not respond.
The seed seller was using an email addy from hushmail and called himself newkingofseed
I believe he was in the UK and was travelling to south east asia, he also mentioned to me that he was using the money to fund the people in the village he visited that grew the plants, there he said they called it a different name, not violetta or phillipine kalinga, he said they were calling it something about gold or something about the shimmer that these plants had when they were grown in there nativa habitat, the person had also mentioned that when he went to a store to develop photographs he was stopped by the clerk and they told him about how beautiful of a flower he had taken pictures of :biglaugh: People actually thought that because of it's odd structure and Non-cannabis-esque look that the buds were FLOWERS! haha but alas It seems nobody can come forward and help rediscover or reassure that these plants are around!
sadly the last of the seeds I had kept were Duds the were non-viable and didn't grow.
I hope someone can come forward and shed some light on the subject of this strange beautiful Canna from South-East Asia.
