phases of the moon and its functions

does anybody use the phases of the moon to increase the % of germination or increase the quality of buds in the harvest? hear that: the full moon is good to harvest because the plant is full of nectar and the terpenes and others molecules conserve better. to germination i read the new moon is better ... what's your experience and opnion?

It has no scientific proof , but traditional farmers believe .
Here in Brazil the majority of farmers decide the time to plant when the moon is full. I do not believe and my corn field is the best in the region.

I've noticed the moon phases have a dramatic rhythm on my life and the lives of others. Some notice it some don't. The tides do. We are water and all that. Firefighters, nurses, doctors too have interesting anecdotal reports about full moons always being crazy. I dont know how this translates to plants but I plan on germinating my seeds on the new moon of March.

This is a great thread to start. I began using the lunar calendar for cultivation, several years ago. I have noticed greater results in germination, but most especially in harvesting.

Germinate your seeds at the new moon. You will be using the moons invisible gravitational forces to coax the seedling to life with the flow of "The FORCE", instead of against it.

Harvesting the day AFTER the Full Moon is actually better than the day of the fullness. You are then allowing the full energy of the plants to express itself. One very important thing that you will find, is to harvest at night(outdoors) or with the lights out(indoors) - in the darkness. It has to do with the STARCHES present in all plants, that subside as the sun sets and darkness sets in. Let that starch go down and stay down for several hours. You will then find that the buds and plant material is smoking MUCH smoother. I had a crop of Paradise seeds' NEBULA, that people said was as smooth as drinking water.

Go with the flow of the moons' energy, you will find your plants happier and yourself a happier gardener.

thanks i really think the moon have influence, if it can make the ocean change, why not we? or plants? to me is so obviously it exist even if you are cultivation indoor or outdoor! thanks for the information, the day after the full moon to harvest me make very sense, and i think start the germination in the right day will make all fluid better.. now i will plan the exactly day and note in a book every thing! thanks for sharing! i grow outdoor but even in this condition i do every thing i can to harvest the plant before the sun lights the heaven, but it's not a easy work.

I don't believe in any effect of moon phases other than outdoor night light levels which should be a topic to research.

Have grown with moon phases for 40 or more years. If pull from full moon doesn't tell you anything regarding tides....it does have an impact on how plants respond.

The character Yoda in the movie "Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back", said it best :

"For my ally is the Force, and a powerful ally it is. Life greets it, makes it grow. It's energy surrounds us, binds us. Luminous beings we are, not this crude matter. You must feel the force around you - Here, between you, me, the tree, the rock-everywhere, Yes."

So true..these words are.:)

I only know one thing about a full moon. The deer found my outdoor grow easier and could see to eat every plant I had. Peace

Search for biodynamic farming. Created by Rudolf Steiner. It talk about ecology and the moon, seasons etc how it affects the soil as well.

I found my mood and the mood of everyone who comes near my garden has a bigger effect than the moon.
But if you want to pay attention to the celestial bodies, look at them as a whole loving body; dont concentrate too much on one limb of a larger body.

Nice topic, there must be some influence, I advise side to side grow of same plants(clones) at same conditions..with 10-50 plants for statistic correlation :tiphat:

Somehow I believe that moon has it's influence in plants and human.Never seached it though.
But if it affects tides and sap flowing, it must affect other things too.Just don't know how.

i am growing
many years with moon phase too,,, best time to germinate is a week before full moon up to three days after///
to choose which day, then you must to know what you want or need to upgrade your plants genetics--better roots, seeds as end product, buds as end product,or bigger leafs development
harvesting is best around 3 days before and after full moon because all plant juices flow up to plant leafes and buds from the roots. you can closely choose your day too depends on what you harvest -for seeds or sinsemilla.
for those who believe in moon affection on plants and these dates not actually correspond with their plants maturity, dont worry,, take live plant without watering to dark room for several days to wait into right date

I believe it!!!

http://www.gardeningbythemoon.com/phases.html

"....Just as the moon pulls the tides in the oceans, it also pulls upon the subtle bodies of water, causing moisture to rise in the earth, which encourages growth. The highest amount of moisture is in the soil at this time, and tests have proven that seeds will absorb the most water at the time of the full moon. ....

In the second quarter the gravitational pull is less, but the moonlight is strong, creating strong leaf growth. It is generally a good time for planting, especially two days before the full moon. The types of crops that prefer the second quarter are annuals that produce above ground, but their seeds form inside the fruit, such as beans, melons, peas, peppers, squash, and tomatoes. Mow lawns in the first or second quarter to increase growth. "

So since cannabis is roughly similar to tomato....our seeds go in pre moistened soil 4-5 days before full moon.

Like gardening, growing....everyone has their own tricks of the trade. The "end result" is what we relish....right?!!

I read somewhere about a study they made on the subject. If i remember correctly they could find influences in outdoor plants but not on plants grown indoors in soilless medium.
So they concluded it has to do with the microbes, funghi etc. in a living soil.
Not sure I can find that again now.

not real geroi

Ive noticed that few days before fullmoon germinated almost every seed, but at newmoon is similar :D but outdoors, it have an effect, i see how the plant is stronger for prunning at fullmoon, but the question is - is better to do prunning at fullmoon when energy is at upper part, or to do that at newmoon, when energy is at roots more, and it will not affect upper part so much...dont know, but what Ive seen, its better at fullmoon. the same question i ask sometimes with work with roots and so on..
