sulfric acid is more stable than lemon juice or acetic acid (vinegar), its ok to use, just be careful with the dose.

question: why do you need to lower your pH from 8.4 to 6.3?
that should be the job of your nutes if you are in hydro, in soil the dirt should buffer pH.

Nobody can tell you how much you will pH need without these parameters:
-whats in your water
-whats your pH down and what concentration
I don't know much people that know whats in their water unless they use RO water, also pH is a logarythmic scale, you need way more to lower the pH from 6 to 5 than from 7 to 6.

Anyways, the important question remains: Why do you need to lower the pH that much?
pH adjustment is only for small corrections ;)

Hehehe I can see nobody here passed chemisty. Muriatic acid is HCL, and H2SO3 would be Hydrogen Sulphite, not Hydrogen Sulphate, which is commonly known as sulphuric acid.

sulfuric acid is fine for lowering the ph. I think it is called qual. Ask for battery acid from the auto parts store. Be very careful handling. You will find that you need very little to lower your water ph. You may need to make a stock because it needs diluting so much. Add maybe 1 teaspoon acid to a gallon of water. Then, add an ounce or two of this stock to your nutrient solution. You will have to titrate/experiment on how much to add. This may take many tries before you have your "recipe" for the future.

you guys and gals got to purchase some ph down or ph up along with your set of nutes. its a must, dont skimp on the correct ph for your girls, they cant get all that expensive nutes if the ph is to high or too low.Get some gh ph down and watch the plants take off after there water is perfect.

According the OG, you can use acetic and citric acid. I don't know the dosage and detailed info, but any way, you can test any method in other reservoir to calibrate dosage and choose the substance.

pH down

I use general hydroponics Phosphoric Acid PH down(the orange stuff) because i was told its pure plant food aside from being an agent for pH

Lots of acids to choose from

Lots of acids to choose from

Sulfuric acid is probably the best all around choice to lower the ph. It contains sulfur which plants need. It is also considered neutral in that it does not promote growth only changes the chemistry in the plant like the formation of proteins. Phosphoric acid is less desirable because you would add phosphorus and you might not need more. Nitric acid could be used but you would be adding more nitrogen. Hydrochloric acid is a good choice and is also considered neutral but adds chlorine which plants require very little of of. :chin:
