HOw can i check the ph without watering to get run off?
Scrape about 1/4 cup of soil mix off the rootballs of the plants about 1/2 way down on the rootball. Be careful not to damage the roots much. Mix with 1/4 cup distilled water. Stir. Wait 30 minutes. Test slurry ph. This is more accurate than the pour through. You may need to sprinkle some new soil mix into the pots that were tested. Remember, dolomite lime or similar is slow to react and may take weeks to see its effect starting.

Sorry but this method is going to stress your plant more than anything. Pulling any plant out of its planter and scraping soil off the roots is going to stress it just like you were transplanting it.

The pour thru method has always been used and is just as accurate to know if you are having a problem. Besides the ph meters we use were meant to measure liquid ph.. not suspended soil in water. There are special ph meters that do that function and no grower I know uses them. If your going to talk about accuracy sproutco you would think you would know what the proper tools were.

Heres a few soil ph meters and the reasons theyre not used.. price. No sense buying an expensive soil meter when 99% of the time you will be measuring liquids.
