pH or Else?

It is hard to imagine the light isn't right. Because as far as I always understood it the HPS provides perhaps not the full ideal spectrum but as close as you can get to it. In addition I use 2 warm white and 2 cool white fluorescents of 18W each. I probably have too much light. And not being efficient. I don't think there exists a proper light spectrum in indoor growing.

In any case. They seem to shape up a bit now.

HPS provides the best spectrum for flowering, cannabis spectrum changes when in flowering; they like the orange light; I will try to find the growfaq on this and it will explain in more detail :)

Vegging plants love the blue spectrum; blue spectrum allows the plants to grow short and bushy.

Yes, you can have the improper spectrum for indoor growing, when you use incandescents bulbs :)

But gimme a few and I will show ya a few things k!

Edit: Found some for ya!

Fluorescent or metal halide lighting is best for clones and seedlings. Metal halides are recommended for vegetative growth due to their enhanced blue spectrum which encourages bushier, more compact growth. High pressure sodium lights are better suited for flowering, but either can be used for the entire cycle with favorable results.

good find stitch! so there you have it either way will work all depends on what your looking for...I'd try the durbin under MH or similar lighting to veg with and document the differences. You might find that the Durbin has some or no changes...could be interesting

Thanks, another website for my bookmarks :)

I was aware of the different needs of the plant. But never bothered to buy an MH because of cost and laziness as well as the fact I produce enough under a HPS for my own needs.
For my next grow I may get an MH. Would a 400W be enough or can i do with less?

It has been 3 days since transplanting (stress). I want to FIM the tallest. Should I wait and how long? Or is today as good a day as any.

Some pictures that you might like if you didn't have them already.

How tall do you want your plants to get, if you fim now they won't get a lot taller, fimming is like topping, but you don't cut the entire top off, you cut where the leaves and internodes are fresh out of the main stem.

Previous grow I bent the stems over instead of topping. But it requires more work because plants immediately grow upwards to the light again, so you keep rearranging things. Besides that I like to rotate my plants and with the stem growing sideways I can't make a plant rotate like I want it to. During flowering you damage your buds. I don't think I like bending.

I topped another:

I don't have pictures of my FIM'ed plant, that was before my digital age :)

As you cans ee my plants are quite tall. If I check my Excel logs I started bending plants over at 27cm, 29cm, 36cm. At day 40 and later.

That is too late I think? I FIM'ed the tallest plant yesterday. I want my grow duration to be shorter.

If you want it to be shorter, then top the plants entierly. When you top them, the main stem stops growing and the branches branch out and become bushy, rather than taller; but if you allow it grow too long the branches will grow taller than the main stem, what I do with mind was I would top the branches sometimes if I wanted to keep a bonsai, bushy plant

I see. I think i'll do that. I never topped sidebranches before. In the meantime I'll wait for next week, got a mail from the company that distributes or manufactures my pH meter. They sent the problem to their tech department.

But I trust my plants not to deteriorate. I never had a dying plant yet. And I will get a MH next year. And perhaps another soilmix. In fact, I will make sure I will experiment. I will use a few plants in the mix I use now and get another mix from a local growshop that won a prize and use that for a few plants.

Perhaps i'll do 2 plants with a very general flower store type general potting plants mix and see what happens.
