Pez ~ WA clone only

TGH I am willing to answer more questions if it will help , I would send a PM to get a link to said debate but I don't have enough posts yet. I started a thread on Dominion over in the nutrients section and perhaps you could check it out and leave an opinion about them.

Like I stated in an earlier post I would like to see the Pez again but nobody around me has had it for a year or more. The cuts that we had been passing back and forth for over 20 years lost something in the genes or suffered from some unknown ailment and one by one each of us gave up on carrying on with it.The SCCC passed out so many clones for so many years that I am sure that it is out there as cuts from the one seed and likely there are healthy specimens but I just don't have the ability to find it today although I will put a little effort into looking later this summer .

J, I just sent out a bunch of messages hope to see some familiar faces coming in and stating what they know the Pez to be and asking you the questions they need to know.

If you have any pictures of your Pez grows or any more information on it that would be great! I'd link you to the other debate(s) direct but there are rules around here and I'm not sure if that link would break them or not.

Damn you TGH! Just when I thought I was out, you pull me back in ;)

Yo J! Thanks for the info an story. I love weed stories

Ive got a different Pez in week 4 now, lets have a session and see where it goes

The top pic looks to me as if it was pez or pez dom imo.pez is supposedly afghan x paki.I noticed the light sensitivity as well.it made thousands of tiny black seeds on me.lol.the smell is as obnoxious as inhaling the candy, they are one in the same.my pheno was very affie dom as far as flower structure, went 9-10 weeks, and finished with all purple foliage and extreme density.grinder weed, briquette like

Now I do know the apothecary genetics had a cut they played with, and this is where livity, cherry pez, and grape pez came from, but this was supposedly not THE cut.hope that helps a bit.happy 4th!

TGH those pictures look very much if not exactly like the original Pez grown indoors and believe it or not the pics posted in the other thread by Ghostly look very much like a lot of the original Pez when grown outdoors. When reaching maturity there would be an overwhelming purple and gold coloration to the leaves when finished outdoors in western WA. Once trimmed the color was mostly all green with just some purple edges on the outdoor and just green on the indoor. It is plausible that these are the same strain grown with much different environmental stresses or lack of stress.

I think it is hard to pin point the genetic make up of Pez in order to breed a modern northern lights but all the clues point to a parentage similar to northern light parentage. It is common knowledge that the first northern light varieties were taken from Seattle to Amsterdam in the early to mid eighties in the form of female cuttings and what happened after that to get these into seed form is unclear to me. Northern lights shows a heavy Afghani genetic make up in the varieties I have seen but it has been said that of the first 5 or 6 varieties of northern lights which arrived as female cuts 3 or 4 showed a much more sativa set of traits. Simply put the northern lights was in Seattle when and where I bought the now infamous eighth and my impression of the buds from that day were a high quality Afghani hybrid but I had not knowingly seen any NL strain at that time. The northern lights strains I have come across since then may have some similarity to the pez but none have been a dead ringer.

Pink Pez , Purple Pez , Blue Pez , Cherry Pez , Lo-Pez ; I am not sure how to address these strains but if it is the original Pez I would not understand why one would choose to change the name. On that note I nicknamed one particular growers Pez 'the pepper pez' because it always lacked the fruity side of the distinct aroma ,this didn't go over well between me and the other grower but it was just something I said to get a giggle over some beers with the buds but it stuck. So yeah there is some peppery aroma available within the Pez. I am not sure what he did to bring out the 'pepper pez' side but I always assumed it was related to not flushing at the end of an all chemical grow and then speed drying it from plant to bag in say 3 days or less but those are just speculation at the time I did not want to step on that individuals toes by trying to get to the bottom of it..

We all just lay out there what we believe to be the truth and let the chips fall where they may.No reason to get heated although I know the feeling. If everybody who reads what you write believes it to a tee then you are probably not bringing any thing new or forgotten to the table. On a couple of occasions I have been told to my face things like "my buddy started the Pez" or "my buddy was the original breeder of the first Pez" I generally stick to an answer like well I would like to meet him which of course never pans out.

did you see dome fleshy colors as wrll in the finished product?

The original PEZ started from bag seed in 1991 in Everett WA , I know because it came from my bag and it was named after the flavor of orange pez the candy.
J

Anyone know when Apothacary started business? I think it was before 1991 but I could be mistaken.

Ive got a different Pez in week 4 now, lets have a session and see where it goes

I'll also have some Pez ready soon maybe it can be a group sesh.

Ghostly, was your Pez (the purple one I have copied before) grown indoors or outside? What would you say are the main differences between the cut I rock and the cut you rock is, since you've grown both? Thank you for taking time to stop by and answer these questions lets solve this mystery :tiphat:

I noticed the light sensitivity as well.it made thousands of tiny black seeds on me.lol.

I have never seen Pez cause problems producing seeds it was the most tolerant cut we had for a long time. Light ,heat and varied nutrient level didn't bother Pez enough to hermaphrodite.I have seen some bananas on the Pez but they were always non-viable. I have had on a few occasions got seeds from pez that were pollinated by other plants during the same grow and some of these were grown extensively for years and may still be today.

Do you mean some fleshy colors as in the hairs and mature trichs blending together at a glance and having a fleshy look? Why yes .
I don't think we had indoor plants that I would say had all purple foliage , we got some coloring but mostly outside and when I saw purple I almost always had an equal amount of gold.

My pleasure to share the info and some of the story. I am interested in seeing the result of your "different Pez" so be sure to get some pics.
I need to scan some old pics on film to show the Pez as I have known it,nobody hold their breath as I am a notorious procrastinator.LOL
Everybody be safe today .

Purple leaves, golden nuggets? I've never seen the cut I have fully purple calyx and all, but I have seen shades of purple on its leaves.

I've got an extra one and thanks to this convo I'm considering running it outside to see exactly how purple I can get her.

So by any recollection..that first seed, was it tiny, black?could these other expressoons be s1s of your original cut passed on to some one else that blew it out and grew the seeds, and gave out clones?

The original seed was pretty good size and typical brown with some black lines on it I think. I say I think because there were actually 3 seeds out of that bag and only one looked mature and only one sprouted. The other 2 looked like pale immature seeds of average size.
We could speculate forever about how there came to be a pink, purple, blue and cherry Pez or other expressions but I for one will not draw any conclusions and attempt to believe them as some kind of fact. The fact I will reiterate is that cuts from the original and cuts from those cuts and cuts from those cuts ect. were passed on and on so what folks did with those was something I have no idea about.

I used to smoke a lot of Pez in the early to mid 2000's in Oregon

it's good pot, quite sweet

the stuff I'm searching for was called Dirty Diaper, I used to get it around the same time, but I think it was from Cali

Yes sweet for the most part when grown well.
A fellow SCCC did some breeding with the pez and one in particular became very popular with us from about 1998 on.It was I believe pollen gathered from a stressed Hawaiian Indica strain that we always had around. The resulting strain was either referred to as "the cross" or "the poop" depending who was talking but it was a winner. It literally smelled like a cats turd when fresh but was surprisingly nice to smoke and a very easy strain to grow indoors,Outdoors it was not too shabby but produce as quickly as the pez did.
