Personal Cannabinoid and Terp Tests

Real laboratories can test for anything under the sky.

Apparently actually testing for stinky shit like this is pretty fucking tough. I read a few things saying that for the protocol that establishes proper testing standards, the mercaptans are so smelly you need to evacuate the whole lab after trying to establish a standard to test against, so they don't.

Not really true, you simply mix the standard in a fume hood which is essentially a chamber under significant negative pressure. The smell is evacuated immediately.

That makes sense. A couple other people claimed it we untestable due to the reasons I mentioned. Maybe some labs are unprepared, or its all bullshit.

Leafalyse just popped up on reddit offering testing for home grow for $79.99 in Canada.

"We’re initially launching with our potency test which is available for both dried flower and oils for $79.99. This tests for THC, THCa, CBD, and CBDa. We have several more tests launching next month as well including cannabinoid profiling, terpene profiling, biological contaminant testing, and seedling gender testing, so keep an eye out on our website!"

Just on time for harvest time.

I want to do these 2 tests when they become available. :woohoo:

Cannabinoid Profile Test

This kit allows for testing of the following cannabinoids:

Δ8 THC, Δ9 THC, Δ9 THCa, THCV, THCVa, CBD, CBDa, CBC, CBCa, CBDV, CBDVa, CBG, CBGa and CBN.

Terpene Profile Test

Our terpene profiling kit contains everything you need to send a dried flower
or oil sample to our lab for testing. We use cutting-edge HPLC technology to
tell you the exact percentages of 30+ terpenes present in your cannabis sample.

Ya i don't feel it. I don't really care what the numbers are, bio-assay, otherwise known as smoking it to test is always what i prefer, its most real for my experience of the product. Numbers can mislead your actual perceived judgment.

I'm going to test untested strains. So knowing what's in them is important to me. Numbers aren't the only
thing I'm interested in. Can you tell what kind of Cannabinoids and/or Terpenes are in what you smoke?

Is there a simple way to check levels of cbd in weed that you grew? I have some that wakes me up and feels good but isn't really producing a high other than a little funny thing around my face. It sometimes feels as if my face has something on it! Like dried sweat or a spider web...

I'm sure you will have some use for this testing, for me not so much.

No, the actual component "names" aren't known, just the appreciated flavours, odours, and effects.

Troutman is a private breeder (and seed whore) so he can't claim to have something he doesn't. His focus I think is on Northern Hardy strains you normally couldn't get. He has some testing in different climate zones for phenotypes and of course the attributes you mentioned. Now he needs data that he can communicate to have a complete package.

Getting that data in Canada before legalization was almost impossible without a legal growing license. Dumb I know, but it was what it was.

I think it's an awesome service. I'll use it. Fuck I wish I could have thought of it!

Btw... i was just on the island last week. Northern part. Love it there.

yada yada, ya sure, you love it :)

I have some old skunk stuff, it has that skunk reek like a dead skunk or skunk cabbage. I heard its main stench is due to thiol compounds breaking down into mercaptans. Is there anybody that tests for those?

Or just terpenes...

Yeah man, although mercaptans are thiols, but pretty sure that's what it is. If you find a white paper saying that let me know because I've been looking for years.

Where did you read or hear about these things? Any leads are appreciated. Thanks! I'm trying to learn as much as Incan about this topic.

A response on Future4200 on the topic of cannabis thiols, butanethiol is mentioned, which is replied to by a user saying:
"The crazy thing is consolidated chem will ship it to your house. One thousand points of warning follows:

THIS PRODUCT NEEDS A FUME HOOD x334
THIS PRODUCT IS VERY VOLITILE x333
THE CHEMICAL DUMP WILL CHARGE YOU $$$ AND ASK YOU QUESTIONS x333"
It is my understanding that when isolated it will disappear in front of your eyes if not under pressure due to it's extreme volatility. To my understanding there are no cannabis labs that test for thiols currently, nor is there any white paper I can find that shows any positive test for thiols in cannabis or for any chemical responsible for the "skunky" smell of cannabis. If you know of any please let me know.

Oh fuck yeah!! $60 for a THC test is very reasonable. It was $200 last I checked at a place in BC 2 years ago. I am going to employ this for sure on my mother hunt/breeding project! Thank you!
