Perfect pot size for Auto Flowers?

I use clear 32 ounce containers to start my seeds and I can see the roots. With my Automatic Hindu Kush seeds the roots seemed to grow out sideways until they hit the pot and then grew straight down.

Yes it is wishful thinking at this point as there is no proof. However if you keep track and I keep track and other people keep track then we will have proof--one way or the other.

I have found width did not matter as long as the deepens was more the 30cm

What if i were to rig up some 4" pvc pipe, 2' long, with an end cap and holes cut for drainage. How do you think the plants would turn out?

Would it be safe to smoke bud grown in PVC?

Get square downpipe and do the same thing, just cut it off into different lenths, then when your plants are done check the rootball and you can see what size is best suited to the strain your growing and you can then cut all your downpipe to that size. its about £2.50 for 2.5m of square downpipe but you can proberbly just find some in a skip or something like that.

Im going to be trying it out this summer with different sizes, I had roadworks going on for a few months near my house, they put loads of pipes and tubes under the growund, they had a big rubbish pile of off cuts so I got a load of different pipes that I can cut to size, alot of it is way to big for autos but some bits will be perfect.

Nothing wrong with white. They also have some black ones that are a little bigger but more expensive.

In my experience a 5 gallon pot is overkill. I have noticed that after about 2 weeks the majority of the biggest plants turned out to be males and the smaller ones females.

I picked up a lot of standard 5 gallon buckets. Is that way overkill for autos?
I was thinking maybe put two in a bucket. I read somewhere that that works to let two seeds know they should grow up to be opposite sex and reproduce.
I only got two Auto Hindu Kush seeds, now I regret not getting more, so I'm really hoping these two can get together and make some seeds. FWIW, one of the seeds is much smaller than the other, and I've been reading that prediction of sex is possible with autoflower seeds, these two fitting the description of a male and female.

Yes, that's been my experience with them. LR IIs actually had a tap root.

I don't think the PVC itself would be bad but the glue is terrible. I made a bubbler out of PVC once and when you hit it all you could taste as the glue. If the end caps were tight fitting I wouldn't use any glue. I'd go with something bigger than 4". Maybe some 6" schedule 40. Just remember that roots tend to swirl around round pots. Square are better, especially ones with indentions on the sides. They redirect the roots and make for better root systems.

I would err on the side of too big rather than too little.

I went with 2-3 gallon for some Lowryder#2's, and they completely filled them, and needed more room.

I currently have some EasyRyders in 5 gallon smart pots, and they seem to love stretching out in there..Won't be able to tell until I chop them as far as what they used, or didn't, but I would rather have a little extra soil go to waste than stunt a plants full potential due to something as simple as container size.. IMO

I Found These Real Nice Square Black Pots That Have Nice A Depth To Them.

4 Inch Wide x 10 Inch Depth

5 Inch Wide x 8 Inch Depth

5 Inch Wide x 12 Inch Depth

Which One Should I Choose?

I'm sort of leaning towards the 4 Inch Wide x 10 Inch Depth or the 4 Inch Wide x 10 Inch Depth?

i was going to post the design on here but then thought against it... you know how it is.. you post a design.. some company tweaks it and they make a killing off you... no way in hell that is happening to this little black duck
