Yeah all the liquor at LCBO is 40%, but when it's got a fancy flavor they water it down and charge more money.

If I wanted bacon flavored vodka, I'd just buy regular vodka and add some of my bacon bits. Lol

Then I decided to defoliate her of all the dying leaves.
My reasoning is that they are just blocking light from getting to the flowers and she may be using her resources to shed them.
She is probably resorbing nutrients from the leaves, but she's got plenty of nutrition in the nutrient solution that she never runs out of.

It's really tiny and really late to the game, but I think it's a good luck charm, and a sign of a bountiful harvest !!?? Lol

I noticed a few days ago that my bubbler had stopped bubbling.
I can normally hear the clay pellets clacking around inside the bottom of the planter and it was silent.
So I cranked up the dial on the air pump and it started bubbling again.

Then today, when I put the plant back in the closet and reconnected the air line, there was no more bubbles and the pump was at max.
Shit !!

I tried to blow through the tubing, but all that did was pop my ears and turn my face red. Lol

So I came up with this idea,...

IMG_20220326_160058.jpg

I filled the Visine bottle with my 17% Hydrogen Peroxide and plugged it in and squeezed the hell out of the bottle.

I Worked !!

I thought that I squeezed about ¼ tsp through the line to clear it and kill the algae that I assumed was plugging the line, but when I finished, I realized that squirted 2 teaspoons of 17% Hydrogen Peroxide into the bottom of my planter.
Shit !!

So I poured a a liter of nute solution in at the stalk and siphoned it out right away.
It came out all bubbly. Lol

IMG_20220326_160723.jpg

Then straight water down the tube and drained that out.

I think that I managed to flush it all out and even dissolve the algae, because now it is bubbling again even with it turned all the way down, but I turned it up all the way figuring that should help blow the crap out and keep it going.

If my plant is dead in the morning, I'll know that it didn't work. Lol

We're only a few days into spring and it snowed today, but the bugs are starting to come out of hibernation.

It's a Maple bug, also known as an Boxelder bug.
It's named after the Manitoba Maple 🍁 tree that is also known as a Boxelder tree,..

I squished it.

And I don't feel bad about that at all.

I have been known to get drunk and actually hug my Maple 🍁 tree 🌳 in my backyard (I think it's a Silver Maple?) and I have a Manitoba Maple Tree beside my house, but when I see thousands of Maple Bugs on the side of a shed, I don't have any sympathy for them.

I spray them with Dawn dish soap.
It kills bugs but it is safe for ducklings 🐥 😉. Lol

My power supply went out of balance again.

This time it was the other side that was getting too much current.

I had to put a 2 foot length of a single strand of wire to balance it out.

IMG_20220326_172145.jpg

It happened right after I installed the second fan.

The additional fan is blowing more on the other two walls of LED strips, which was cooling them off, reducing the current, which in turn cooled them down even more and it snowballed out of balance.

I'm liking the piece of wire fix.
You just adjust the length of wire for whatever side until it's equal.

After much ado about humidity and VPD and dense and airy buds, I have finally decided to buy a humidifier for my closet !!

I was considering this model,..

I liked it because it was adjustable and I could turn it down so that I don't get water condensing all over my closet, and fans, and floor.

But after reading the reviews, it turns out that the dial is useless and it vaporizes all the water at the same rate regardless of where you set the dial and people had wet carpets and furniture.

All the different adjustable humidifiers were the same and they all kept crapping out within a year.

So I decided to go old-school and found this,..

It's Perfect !!!
And it's almost half the price.

It's 1000 Watts, but you can turn it down so that it only makes warm water that slowly evaporates, and if it "boils dry" with it turned down, it's not going to burn or melt, and it just becomes a small heater.
(there is no automatic shutoff, but they all have a thermo time fuse that blows if it gets too hot.)

So not only do I have a half price humidifier, I also have a 1000 Watt kettle for making coffee, or I can cook rice or soup in it.
Bonus !!

It took me a long time to get on the VPD bandwagon, but this device is cheap and multifunctional !!

The ultrasonic vaporizers are a lot more energy efficient (mine is only 12 Watts) but the vapor has no heat energy and condenses back to water as soon as it hits a surface.
And in the winter, I need to add heat to the closet anyway until the plant is old enough to crank up the lights and heat it that way.

I'm still going to grow in the lowest humidity available during flower though.
I like the way she oozes with resin when things are dry, but I'm not going to buy a dehumidifier to get lower humidity.
I'll just use the circulation and ventilation fans to fend off mold.

Bro those are devices that should never be left unsupervised while on. Get a humidifier. I bet you can find one for same price.

I thought of a better option,..

It's 68 Watts on the warm setting,..

122 Watts on low,..

And 188 Watts on the high setting,..

I can set it on the floor of the closet and leave the lid off, where it can add heat and humidity to the closet.
It holds about a gallon of water and it can be safely operated even if it runs dry.
It's got a big heavy ceramic pot that works as a big heat sink and it is safer to use than those light bulbs.

I'm sure it would take a few days to evaporate the whole pot, especially on the low setting, so I can just add more water every day.

Bro. I am sure you can light your house on fire even without trying so hard. Please get a humidifier. Honestly, after as much as I seen in this thread, I am.not sure you should be allowed to own kettles or crockpots. Please read the warning and instructions in the manual if you think we are exagerating. And I can asure you it should have the time to both evaporate the water and break down by overtemp / catch fire overnight even on lowest setting. For real bro, try other ways to be funny!

I plugged it in empty and set it on high.

I'll give it a bench test and just see how hot it gets, and see if it starts to give off any sort of smell.

It's on the floor beside me where I can keep an eye on it.

I ran it empty for an hour on high and it got quite warm, but not too hot to touch.
I could lift the pot out without burning myself.

I turned it down to warm to see what that is like.

I also looked up some different humidifiers and a warm mist version is kind of expensive especially if they have a humidistat and turn on and off automatically.

Screenshot_20220330-054830_Amazon Shopping.jpg

I also found this version, but people were saying that it kinda spits and sputters and makes a mess.

I'm in no rush to get a humidifier, and I'm not going to need one for a while.

By the time I start my next plant, it will be well into spring and the humidity will be much higher.

I might be able to find something used at a reuse store too, but I don't want a cool mist humidifier.
