Diary PCBuds mini-grow

ReikoX

Knight of the BlackSvn
Looks like she is flowering. I would guess she will double in size over the next couple of weeks. I would use a transition formula (1/2 bloom 1/2 grow) for another week or so then switch to bloom.

Thanks Reiko :thank you:

My timing was way off.
I thought she was just getting started with vegging.

I just noticed the flowers today.

I'm still at half strength veg nutes.
She's probably really hungry.

She's 15" tall now so 30" wouldn't be too bad.
40" would be better though.

The solution at the bottom of the planter had drifted up to 7.2 PH again, so I drained it, dumped it, and refilled the planter with fresh nute solution at full strength with half bloom, and half veg nutes. (as well as calmag, Potassium Silicate and PH up).

I'll start with the Liquid KoolBloom next week too.

My outdoor plant..
it's more than a week older than my closet plant.
She's no where near flowering.

I just checked through my thread and realized that my outdoor plant was the plant that I had planted in the drilled out stalk.

It was started April 23rd, so my outdoor plant will be 6 weeks old tomorrow.

You'd never know from looking at it.

She's got a long way to go.

My closet plant is beefing up.
(but she is pretty short...)

My plant is kinda hurting because I lost track of nuting her..

Her leaves are yellowing...

Fricken squirrels !!

I took the planter out of the parts car and put it on the ground.
The squirrels dug it all up but seem to have left the plant itself alone.

My outdoor plant is just a stick and a few leaves, but she appears to be flowering.

You may need to add some more Mg to their diet. I see early deficiency signs on the leaves.

You were right,...

I removed a few older leaves that weren't looking too healthy.

They showed signs of Calcium and Magnesium deficiency..

This is from Joe Fresh's guide to sick plants...

Calcium deficiency.

Magnesium deficiency.

I think that I had both because my timing was off and she was under nuted.

The leaves that I removed...

Looks like P. I don't see Mg. Bit of Ca, but I would correct the P first.

The mottled green. Spots. Scabby areas linked to spots in appearance. Serrations then boarders darkening. Twisting. It's all P I think.

OK,..
I'm switching to bloom nutes...

Those leaves were old, the new leaves appear OK...

Actually, the new leaves appear to a bit wrong...

I just doubled the nutes...

It might take a while for it to show.

She looks a little nute burned maybe ?

I'm back changing my mind. The rust isn't very red. It's not that yellow turning red of calcium. It's more the spots going too browns and beige's. Mg spotting. The pic above has just one spot, likely unconnected, but is more Mg than Ca. Leaf tip with a little sideways turn is Mg. It causes serrations to turn up. Washboard effect. Not always stripes.

Doubled your feed? that's quite a jump. I find raising my food will often see Mg go deficient first. Likely a lockout.

Mg is aided by P, so a P problem can cause it's deficiency. Fix the P, and you could be back on track.

The spiky look to the serrations has my eye. We see it in pics of certain metal deficiencies, but I have not seen it spoke of. I think it might also be P related. Though that's just a guess.

P is a big player in plant energy. It brings bushy plants that have thick stems. Not squat plants, bushy and big.

It was five days ago that I noticed my plant was flowering.
My timing was way off. I thought that she was just starting her veg stage and she was still on half dose veg nutes.

That's when I doubled the nutes to full proper amounts, with half Maxibloom and half Maxigro.

I don't have straight P to add, but the Maxibloom has 3 times the P than the Maxigro.

It was the older leaves that showed all the problems, probably because of the lack of nutrition.

The newer leaves may be P deficient but I'm thinking that the switch to bloom nutes should help but may take a while to show.

My last watering was 50/50 Maxibloom and Maxigro.

I'll use just Maxibloom from now on.

And the main cola.

She needs to be watered again, so I'll use just Maxibloom.

So, if the new nute solution and amount fixes my problem, can I expect those leaves to recover, or do I have to watch the new growth coming to see what they look like ?

I tend to watch the new growth as my real objective. It's a better indicator of how you are moving forward. The rest of the plant is as important though. It could be supporting the new growth in a manner it can't sustain. Or getting better. All things we can learn from.
I see quite a few leaves that are dark green, with downward cupping. Nearly always said to be too much N. This could fit with your move from grow to bloom coming a bit late. Many like to switch before 12/12 if it won't leave them short of Nitrogen. Plants can be loaded up with P and Ca before the switch. An interesting feed is canna's coco, where there is no grow&bloom. P is loaded up throughout grow, to get it a few weeks through bloom. Too the PK boost. People using GH Flora series often don't buy the Grow. I'm growing with bloom right now, as the N demand for green leaves is really no different to the N demand for growing green buds. My bloom isn't that high in PK anyway, and I'm using calmag that adds N. Most would say it's a grow feed from the numbers.

Have you ever looked at your feeds, to see what PPM of what, is in them?

Yes,.. I looked at the numbers but didn't really what to make of them.

They are listed as a percentage though, and not PPM.

Maxigro powder...

I am finishing up the Calmag I've got, but I don't have a label for it, and forget what it is.
I remember it has iron in it as well though.

The feeding I'm doing has worked well before, but being as I screwed up the timing, she was only getting half of the nutes she was supposed to get until 5 days ago.

I wasn't really paying attention and was judging her maturity based on her size.
I've had other plants fill the closet before they went into flower, so I thought she was just a youngster.
(I grow Autoflowers, so flowering just happens when it does.)

Oh,.. I use RO water, so I don't have to worry about what is in the water.
