Ozone Generator????

I just have a few questions in regards to an Ozone Generator to get ride of the smell. How well would you guys say that these work? Which ones you would say work the best? Do you run them 24/7 and not worry about the high level of ozone if you running them in your home?

Any other ideas on how to keep the smell in check would be great. My room is approx. 9feet by 6feet and 8 feet high. I have 24 plants so I know it's going to get stinky and I want to get a plan before I start to flower these babies.

i'd recommned the cf100 or greater from this link and the air tiger ozone gen does the trick. depending where you are in the states these will either be really easy to get or not so much.

also you could build ur self a carbon scrubber but i'm lazy when it comes to shit like that so i just buy em. its two oz out of.........................its worth it to me.

and be careful with the ozone that shits no good for ya. put it on a timer so ur not in the grow room when its on and exhaust it out the house.

Yup.

Ozone sucks ass and even if you exhaust it out the wind can blow it right back at you so.....

Carbon scrubbers are the ultimate ticket for odor control.

I built one a few weeks ago (I am not a tinkerer type dude) but there was a design on OverGrow by the SunIsShining and it was easy to make for my grow room (140 sq. ft. or 10' x 14').

Another poster who migrated this way was going to do a tutorial.

You can buy all the stuff to make a carbon scrubber at Home Depot / Lowes for $70.00 or less (not including the activated carbon $49.99 or 440 cfm Eco-Plus in-line fan $175.00).

I never used a carbon scrubber before a few weeks ago.

The new carbon scrubber got the wife OFF MY ASS :bat: about the grow room smelling up the back yard....nuff said.

I never had to worry about any odor control, so I'am very new at trying to keep it under control so any hand holding along the way would be great, the reason I need to get it under control is that where I'm at now I have neighbors that are close. My grow is in the basement would you guys think that the smell could make it's way outside? Also I have a question on the carbon scrubber would I be able to just put it in the room and not have to vent it? The way my room is set up is I'am using the black and white poly on 2 sides for my walls. My furnace is right next to my grow and I know that my grow area is not sealed very well. I just want to make sure that the smell will not travel outside.

You can have your carbon scrubber recirculating inside your grow room. I have it set up this way and it works bitchin'.

You better believe it this stuff will stink up the basement and the whole house above the grow and half the neighborhood.

Odor control should be right up there to stealth mode your ass............or else you will get popped.

Odor control and bragging about grows are probably the two biggest reasons you can get screwed. Do not wait until it is too late. Budget money for a carbon scrubber or just grow one plant that is not stanky (LowRider or something otherwise .... beware) :sasmokin:

Ozone generators work better than anything iv ever used.
Your best bet is to build your own ozone generator.
Step 1: find a neon sign(medium size) with a voltage convertor of 3000 to 5000 volts. well your just going to use the convertor if you can find it byitself.

Step 2: get some conductive metal mesh.

step 3: find some silicon caulk, glass from a picture frame, and a container that fits the glass inside(non-conductive).

step 4: cut out 2 patches that are about an inch smaller(on each side) than the glass, and silicon the mesh to both sides of the glass.

step 5: attach a piece of heavy duty wire(120volt is fine, or a standard power cord) to each piece of glass. positive to one side, negative to the other side of glass. MAKE SURE THE WIRES DO NOT TOUCH, THERE SHOULD BE GLASS SEPERATING THEM.

step 6: connect other end of wires to convertor and presto your done.

When you plug it in you will here a buzz and notice a purple glow in the glass.THIS IS NORMAL.

BECAREFUL NOT TO BREATH IN THE SMELL OF A SEA BREEZE. it kills everything in the air including your lungs. set it for 5 to 15 minutes in your grow box or hotboxed car and the smell is gone. i like to set it on a timmer for 5-15 minutes every hour depending on the convertor IE higher watt converter lower time.
there will be no smell what so ever and you will never have to change out any carbon.

hey TB we seem to be poppin on the same threads....all right NAACP here we go.

first off if ur grow is right by ur furnace and the room is not sealed that well then ur askin for odor problems. ur furnace will pull the odor directly to it when kicked on a circulate that shit all over ur house. bad times.

so i would A. buy or build a carbon scrubber and u can simply drop the fan on the can. hence can fans.
B. if ur really worried get both the scrubber and the ozone generator. they work a treat. i've used them in many different opps when carbon cannot cut it. don't get me wrong i prefer carbon but sometimes it just doesn[t have the ummfff.

like i said before and as got the blues said if u do use ozone vent that shit. i would vent it from my room into the dryer vent that goes outside since ur in the basement or just vent it right out the room. up to u and all u need to do so it doesnt blow back in is put an elbo at the end so it faces down when it exhausts. problem solved. anyway hope this helps. let us know.

The vaportek 4000 works very well, it is what Rez uses, and what I use as well. I have run ozone and it does the job, but it must stay away from the plants and be vented out side, it also has to be mixed with the 'dirty' air, which requires a baffle box. IMO vaporteks work the best. If you decide to go the ozone route, don't make your own they are a fire hazard (Is a $50 savings worth your house?). Alot of times hydro stores have used ones for sale, for less than $100.

Ozone Generators

Hey there,

I personally had a grow room 8'x5'x3.5' and i had an ozone generator...

Now i know you have a larger number of plants... but i had 4 bubblegums that were about 3.5' tall and a NL5/Afgahni x skunk that was about 5.5' and whjen you opened the door to the room it stunk to high hell...

I personal;ly think ozone generators are great and it is all personal opion.

Now I am selling my Ozone generator so if your in the ontario area it could be aranged...other wise buy one that suits the siaze of your grow...

Hey, I put together an ozone generator and, although there is a current running through the unit, I can't tell whether it's generating any ozone. I don't notice any particular "fresh air" scent coming from it. Also, I didn't see any unusual color around the glass when I plugged it in. How can I be sure it's working correctly?

I have a Uvonair that covers 5000 cubic feet, and it works wonders, and yes you will know when it is working it has an odor to it, just like the smell after a rainstorm. I got mine for $180, but you don't really need as big of one as I have. I also use a carbon scrubber, but having both is comforting. I like the fact that I don't need a fan on to use it, where as a carbon scrubber you do.

lol , I have a Uvonair 5000 (for 5000 cubic foot ), they do work , this one uses a UV light to put out O3 , that attaches to anything in the air and makes co2 <<<<< a good thing for plants , then drops down , and it is safe because this is what they use to kill germs in hospitals , I burn a joint in my livingroom and the smoke gets about a foot before it's attacked , I just burned a big fat J and you can't even tell , now mine is UV light some are just electrical feild gens , and some homemade ones are a lil dangerous if you don't do it right , as far as getting electricuted or start a fire

http://www.uvonair.com/uvonair.html

Now , I use it in the living area , whole house , but it puts out o3 and attacks co2 so you only want it on the exhaust out tube , and even better in the area outside the roomor smoking areas in the house , more likely to get busted if LEO or some citizen walks up to your door and you just burned one , then them smelling your grow, depending evryone takes their own precautions , thats mine :moon:

you say your grow area is right close to your furnace ...the furnace will be exhausting out through the chimney; can you splice your grow exhaust into your furnace exhaust and send the smell up to the sky ? i am no expert but i am actually thinking of doing this in my own situation. wonder if anyone has any experience with this.

pipe'n into furnace ... you'll need a good flu (basicly a check valve for that type of system, not sure i spelled that right ) do it worng , you could fill your whole room , or house with smoke and soot , plus heat , the pipes will get hot ... you could also look at use'n the plumbing vent , all plumbing has a 3" vent out the roof usually , depending on where you live and style of the house

hope that helps

thanks for that info, latitute. i am looking at splicing into the furnace exhaust JUST before it enters the chimney. if that doesnt look like it will work i will look at the water-pipe vent.
