Overwatering/Underwatering??

Things always seem to start up whenever I post! LOL:dueling:

WVkindbud38 - thank you for the offer of help and I don't mind any way anyone types..could you possibly repost your info? I think I'm too new to be able to send/get private messages. Plus anyone teasing me doesn't really phaze me in the least...most times it kinda just goes over my head...I tend to be an oblivious girl. :)

I really appreciate all the help from everyone.

I will repot and I think im gonna try a hempy with pearlite/vermiculite and see if I can scrounge up a better food (with those micro nutrients in it).

I'm a little nervous about trying my tap water, I phed it and it was dark, dark blue...it went as far as the compair strip could go which is 7.6. The RO water phs at 6.5. I am not sure how to change the ph of my water, I have researched it a bit and I have no access to the hydro ph up/down..however..I have seen ph up/down in the pet fish isle...would that work?

Again, I really appreciate the help everyone is giving me as I bumble and fumble through this, my first grow....

those poor....poor plants.....

:1help:

I'm not allowed to order anything over the internet. My husband is a bit paranoid about this grow of mine. I have kept my eyes out for a ph meter, but so far all I have found was the test kit for fish tanks...I use it on my fish too.

He would prolly pop a vein if he knew I was posting here. LOL

Do you live close enough to drive to a hydro store.......also you might get a digital ph meter at a pet store like petsmart or petco. I'm not 100% sure if the pet stores have them but you definatly need one. I used to use money orders when I ordered online also for security. But if you guys are close to a hydro store maybe take a weekend trip and get some supplies......smoke a nice j before you go. Don't use miracle grow it's hard on MJ plants they;ll burn. Sorry I don't have time to repost that info but I'll get back in touch

Well please don't use tap if your ph is above the scale. More than likely you have hard water. Hard to really telll without an accurate reading.

So.....if you are gunna use RO water(which you should now that I know you have fairly hard water), you will need some kind of way to add back all the micro nutrients, the RO filter takes out. ie calcium/magnesium, etc etc....

I'm no expert when it comes to hempy buckets, but I'm sure you are going to need a good hydro fert in straight perelite. You may have to break down, and order something, or find a good nursery or greenhouse, and order it through them? I dunno....just suggestions. I know a little about hydro.

He would prolly pop a vein if he knew I was posting here. LOL
Tell him you needed to learn a little something, so you can both have nice meds(if he smokes hehheh!)

If you haven't treated your aquarium water with any medications or sodium based chems it IS excellent for watering your plants.

things found around the house...
You can use vinegar or lemon juice to lower pH.
Use dolomite lime or wood ash or even soak eggshells in the water to raise the pH

hth,

ps... I hope you didn't think I was teasing you with what I said that thing on the soil looked like.

mintyfresh sorry for referring to you as a guy.....I didn't know. It don't matter anyway because where all growers and I respect women to the max.

Oh i forgot about the dog poop comment!! Heheh...heck..if I thought dog poop would help I would be making my 2 chihuahuas squat on the dang plants!!!

It is a bit of dried out peat moss, but you are right..it does look like poo.

Yup..another girly girl grower here! yay us!

I have seen some various plant foods (besides miracle grow) with lower number ratios for the npk, plus I found some stuff that adds all the micro and macro nutes too..I will try that...I dunno, it may be just a newbie idiot moment but to my thinking if the stuff has the npk in good ratios and also has all the other nutrients that a plant needs, then I just don't see how it won't work. :) I was using the houseplant food because it was what I had, but I can get something else.

Unfortunate the only hydro shop is like 3-4 hours away...so driving out there is not gonna happen. :) I live in cow country. :)

Actually I don't treat my aquarium with anything..it all goes through the filter..I top it off with regular tap water all the time because my herd of cats like to drink out of the tank. That is a good idea.

Also I saw some liquid seaweed at Sutherlands.....I think I will get that..sure it can't hurt!!

I am going to scrutinize the nutrients of the various foods (Sutherlands actually has alot of different things) and see if I can get as close to all the nutes my babies need.

Always keep in mind when you're mixing the store bought ferts.
The label instructions are two to three times stronger than our favorite plant likes.
Much better to feed a baby a bit of very week food than a large deluxe pizza and a case of beer.

good luck

Send the pizza and beer this way, haha. I have a hydro shop right here in my city guys, is there anything organic in walmart, home depot or any store like that she can get??? I've only gotten gardening supplies at those stores for non mj plants...I don't know if I ever saw them. Sometimes a nursery may carry better stuff than miracle grow. I just found one in my home town that had some organic plant food.

Edit: ^^I didn't see that you can get stuff at Sutherlands...awesome, I really liked smoking naturally, organics are good:)

If your soil is holding too much water for too long, you can also consider introducing additional oxygen to the solution you apply.
You can add some hydrogen peroxide or aerate the liquid with one of those fish air pump things.
Careful with the peroxide however, there are good things in dirt too and you don't want to burn everything off.

yea I forgot...
wally mart carries "jungle" brand pH adjusters in the aquaruim supplies section.
The bottles are labeled saying "safe for aquarium plants"
Last time I checked, years ago, the pH down was phosphoric acid and
the pH UP was Potassium hydroxide.
bout two bucks for a small bottle, but potent dilution at that.

Dat bee's da shizzle ma nizzles !

But beware, most other brands of aquarium pH adjusting chems are sodium based and bad for plants. Make sure the label says "safe for aquarium plants"

Might as well throw in also, everyone else has. ;)

Lots of good advice here, Suspect crappy soil/ph. But, I beleive you mentioned a rubbermaind, and that got me to thinking.....

When I first started my perpetual I had a simmilar looking malaise to my plants, drove me nuts, and I eventually threw them into the flower area under 24x before they would recover.

In tried to use a single rb with flouro tubs hung from the lid. lots of ventilation, I thought, with a 120 vac 230 cfm muffin fan. But, it remained a death chamber.

I then hit the red greenery rubber maid thread, and coppied his design, and since have had to throw out a lot of green as my veg chamber is popping.

While the temps seemd fine, using two rubbermaids *with a seperating piece of plexi* was the key. A poor mans AC hood or such, I think is how he refered to it. I ditched the floro tubes and went with 2 125 W cfls, I think in my 2 32G rubbermaids.

Something to consider. If I ever meet that Red dude, I owe him a bowl.

HTHs

PS> Any off gassing chance? Did you paint the inside?

Actually..yes I did paint the inside. As an update one plant sprang back to life and is bushing out nicely, the other was more far gone but it is even looking much better. I switched the majority of them to hempy buckets and it is working like a charm, even after only a handful of days! I am inclined to think it was too much dang water....but since hempys seem to be harder to over water, they seem much happier now, plus I have given them some food that covers all sorts of needs.
