OVERKILL?? Four 1200watt Growzillas 4800watts Total

Good Evening Fellow Stoners!!!

I am currently running an op. in a room that is about 9' x 7'. Im using the aeroflow for 20 plants with 3 400 watt lamps seperated over the grow. I am looking into expanding my grow and changing out all of my lamps. I really like the growzilla 1200 which consists of a dual hood for two 600 watt lamps. I will also be purchasing another aeroflow for 20 plants.

My plan is to purchase 4 of the growzillas (two growzillas for each aeroflow 2400 watts) My good friend seems to think that this might be overkill on the lighting. I would really like some second and third opinions on this. Keep in mind that the amount of electricity is really not a factor that I care about. I think more light means happier plants.....please let me know what u think

Ill be back...gonna go smoke a bowl!!

yes way too much light, just get two growzillas and have them run on light tracks over the aeroflo's, also with too much light you can hurt or even kill your plants (not from heat just from having too much light), try to keep it at 60-watts per sq. foot.

a sq. meter is 9 sq. feet, at 60-watts per sq. foot it would come out to around 500-watts per sq. meter, so 800-watts per sq. meter would be around 100-watts per sq. foot, Marijuana plants can only use around 60-watts per sq. foot or 500-watts per sq. meter anything higher is just wasting light.

Yeah i've heard the 100w a sq. ft. as well ... I guess its one of those situations where unless you're running your own experiments its safest to run with the most (for lack of better term) "popular" range.

I think I read the 800 per sq. meter from someone in the TAG landing Aero thread ... kinda hazy at the moment ... :joint:

blatant misinformation...

there is such a thing as dimenishing returns...but it is way beyond 60 wpsf. With Co2 enrichment and dialed in conditions in the right hydro/aero setup your plants can use much more light than that. Don't get me wrong, you can grow a successful crop under less than 60 watts per square foot, but to say that anything more than 60 is wasted light is absolutely not true.

sunnyside.. dont you use around.. 80-90 wpsf?

that new radiant ac looks nice.. is it more effective of a design than the daystar?

a sqare meter is nine square feet, so at 60w per square foot you would get 500w per square meter.

3.2808X3.2808=10.8 +/-

dont seem like much but when doing your calculations it adds up.

not 500w pM2

more like 645w pM2

yea I admit that it was bad/rong info, I ment to say that 60w per sq. foot is what you should shoot for and that any higher (altho good) should be left to the pro's, I myself use around 100w per sq. foot (600w HPS over a ecogrower).

that is overkill, I smell smoke from your fire hazard. maybe a 10 x 10 with 2kw.....two 1k watt bulbs or any other combo of HID's I imagine getting way to hot, causing major problems in that cab. if you could concentrate that much light onto your plants in that small of a space you would surely have some resin covered girls, but realize that there are only so many places the plant can put trichomes....I imagine there is a point in small spaces that the intensity of the light stops mattering and in a 4x4 I would imagine that point to be around 800w...this is all speculation for I only use as much as I need, but if you have the cash to run that much light in that small of a space...I'd like to watch.
